Of course, then you couldn't come bitching to slashdot.

amen - I spend (well, the insurance company spends) much more on test strips than on insulin.

Retail: a bottle of insulin is $20. That lasts me approximately 14 days
In those 14 days I will use between 70 and 140 test strips, which cost about $.50 a piece. So lets say $50.
Also - in those 14 days I will use 5 sets of supplies for my insulin pump. At $17 a pop, that's $85

Out of that total $155, the insulin is only 13% of the cost. Granted the insurance company doesnt pay retail for anything, and I absorb a small fraction of the cost through deductibles, but it will still end up only being 13% of the cost of the daily supplies.

And let's not talk about the $5,000 insulin pump that only works for 4 years, or all the doctors visits, blood work, ER visits if I become sick......

A cure for Type 1 diabetes would save the insurance companies a fair amount of money in the mid-term, and extremely large amounts of money in the long term.

Actually coke's recipe is fairly easy for someone else to duplicate.

But Pepsi would never ever duplicate Coke's taste. To most people (i'd say 99%) of the population coke and pepsi taste different. I continue to drink coke (actually diet coke) because I like how it tastes. I have friends who only drink diet pepsi because they like how it tastes. They're both cola, but they've differentiated themselves in the marketplace by how they taste, and their brand image.

Now those off brands - I would bet they they neither want to spend the time or money to try and duplicate anybodies formula. They know they're selling based upon price, not taste.

All those pens include a little button, that you can hold down while you tap to do a right click. Not too bad or troublesome.

That being said - I'd love to have an apple tablet. I had a motion computing tablet computer for a year - it was wonderful for taking notes in class. I do have to say - convertible tablets are much more useful than pure tablets. There are many times you just need a keyboard - and having to carry one around just isn't practical.
