Linux will not be a realistic desktop alternative for the great majority of users until problems like this are brought down to a minimum, and if they happen, a user has a reliable way to solve them.
1- that is blaming the software for the problems of the user
That's not true. The reason "windows users have the unfortunate tendency to run as administrators" is because some software requires Admin priviledges to run properly! That being said, those applications and the OS itself are to blame.
Fut does not mean foot, and bol does not mean ball either but "futbol" is how you pronounce "football" in spanish. This is a lot closer than calling it "Soccer" where Americans decided to pick a random word from an old name, shorten it and add a letter. Nice try though.
Has anyone else noticed that it seems like for firefox users the download page for Vista displays a "high traffic message, come back later" message while in IE, it displays additional download options including one that works without a problem and if you try to access that URL directly through FF, you get an Access Denied error? I didn't think they'd go that low.
What we need is not 100 dialogs verifying if we really really really want to delete or execute something. What is needed here is an internationally recognized license to operate a computer. That is right, a license to operate a computer, just like we need licenses to operate a vehicle. Damage done by improper use of a computer nowadays is pretty extensive. A license would filter out part of the core problem allowing them to focus on fixing the other part, making the actual OS secure and not just slapping these dialog hacks. I'm only half joking.
Is the American theme with everything and flag a hint of who is really behind all this? or is "EU" a new state?
yes yes, i know it's the politics.slashdot.org theme but geesh. Slashdot (should have?) stopped being a US-only website a long time ago (if it ever really was).
I agree. These flood of useless toolbars seems like the the new lame excuse for a poor business plan. Give up Yahoo/Ebay! We don't want them. Heck, I don't even care for Google's.
And yet, a few years ago they saw it as a cancer..
And yet this is the shaky basis on which Ballmer dismisses open source as anathema to all commercial software companies. It can't be used at all, he reasons, because even a tiny germ of it, like a metastasizing cancer, contaminates the entire body. Thus Microsoft 'has a problem' with government funding of open-source.
A much more appropriate name would have been YellowCheapRiver. Ha Ha.,
Thank you. I'll be here all week.

But that is still a hackish work around. I don't care to track how long it's going to take. I just care to be reminded of when it is, which is the original point, Not all events require an end time.

That's the only one annoyance I found. I don't know when my doctor's appointment is going to end, but i do know it starts at noon! Why do i need to enter an end time? and no, it's not all day either.
You must be new here. I bet you even read the article too.

Popeye would be proud
It is just you.
Forget about all that fluff and bloatware. The best marketing move Mozilla can make is to get Firefox installed as the default browser in new PCs.

The child's parents were at home watching TV ofcourse because, sadly, we all know governments do the parenting nowadays.

Is this the first time such an indepth discussion about a sporting event has taken place on slashdot?
Where is the foot graphic on this story?
Here is a major part of it

Some may argue that if the office's network is down and maybe even google to some extend, the office is down anyways.
