Of course a non-techie is having trouble, because the option unearthed by shift-right-click is not, in any way shape or form, visible to the user of the GUI. It's not necessarily his fault whatsoever that he's not aware of this -- it only denotes a lack of random experimentation.
This is the inherent problem with all "right-click" contextual menus -- a right-click should not be considered the primary way to get at a function, as before the user right clicks, there's no way for the user to know the functionality is even there.
What it really is is bad GUI design, and seeing as it's a GUI by designed by MS engineers, it's had to say if the flaw is intentional or not.
If people should not protest wars and give "support", then what exactly are we fighting for? In the end, isn't the ability to disagree and voice your opinion freely one of the main goals in "defending freedom"?
Right on.

I cannot tell you how many times I have been just standing around when a great idea hits me. I itch for a Pocket PC because then I could just take the Pocket PC out, use the voice recorder to record my ideas
*My* well rounded (Hampshire) college curriculum taught me to take enough care in my writings to spell words correctly -- and if I don't know how to spell something, I fucking look it up.
This morning, I finally talked to Apple on the phone. I admit that I over reacted to the whole situation. There was a forwarded email from my employer from Apple, which I misinterpreted. What Apple objected to was not Aquafying Mozilla, but rather the way I was doing it via emulation, thus not giving Mozilla users a pure Aqua experience. Apple is willing to provide information for creating real Aqua experience for Mozilla. Right now, my efforts are focused on an Aqua interface for Tenon's iTools, so work on Mozilla for the moment is in abeyance. I apologize to anyone that I have offended.

Eric

This evening, I went to visit/., and found myself on the front page of/.. There were mix feelings about my Aqua projects. I only wanted a browser that works well under Mac OS X, and looks like Aqua. Too bad, I am unable to share that joy anymore. I did not expect to get paid for fixing cocoa, but I felt bad that I helped Apple to write a interface library. Then I was denied to use this interface unless I used their library. In essence, why should I bother to help them with the interface when I am denied to use the interface. I just begin to enjoy working with Apple software, but Apple isn't making it easy for their developers. Anyways, I only hope that Apple would write cocoa UI for Mozilla, then I will not need this project. (OmniWeb is not good enough, yet)

You might notice that Aqua Mozilla was not updated recently, and the main reason was that Apple contacted my employer in attempt to shut down this project. After a few talk, I am forced to take down this project. Now I think of it, I went to Apple to test cocoa for Mac OS X 10.1, and found a drag and drop problem with NSPopUpButtonCell. They didn't even pay me for my effort, yet they try to shut down my project. Isn't that ironic? For you Mac OS X fans out there, if you want to use a good Mac OS X browser. You can only use IE or OmniWeb now. It sucks for us, but life goes on.
If you follow that link from above, you can actually download all corresponding mp3 and WAV files of the original not-legally-available-anymore "plunderphonics" album. It's still one of the best examples of making "original" music using a sampler ever recorded.
No need for an attitude -- he was asking a perfectly valid question. Anyhow, you can find it here:

It's for OS X. Also cool, while I'm plugging other people's GUI enhancements:
http://www.obdev.at/products/launchbar/index.htm l
Launch Bar (also for OS X) is the most efficient GUI improvement I've ever seen. Hit "command-space", then start typing. You can type the name of an application, a document, a web bookmark, a directory, even email addresses if you set it up right. Launch Bar drops down from the top of the screen and guesses at your choice (it's usually right!). Hit return and the app/doc/url/whatever is launched. Very cool... every OS should have this.
It's just that -- in general -- there's so many better things you could be doing with your life than watching and/or developing porn. Not that it's not Big Business, and sure, some guy may come along and do it; but do you really want to be That Guy?
I can see what you mean, but I think it's even better to teach the basics of computing at an abstract enough level so students would quickly adapt to whatever system they are plunked in front of after graduation. Teach a kid about the basics of word processing and text manipulation, and they could use anything. Teach them about Word, and they'll just know how to use Word.
In any case, it's monumentally depressing to think of public schools as just junior league Microsoft certification mills.
OmniWeb has the best "annoying pop-up window defeating implementation" I've ever seen -- there's a preference to block all pop-ups except those initiated by the use clicking a link. Every browser should have this. OmniWeb rules.
Not that anyone asked, but my favorite German word that succinctly sums up an abstract concept that does not have an English/French/etc counterpart is:
schadenfreude
Main Entry: schadenfreude
Pronunciation: 'shä-d&n-"froi-d&
Function: noun
Usage: often capitalized
Etymology: German, from Schaden damage + Freude joy
Date: 1895
: enjoyment obtained from the troubles of others
That's one every slashdot poster should know and love.
Earthlink is straight-up PPP, as far as I know.

It's the kee-jerk solution to 90% of all pre-MacOS X problems:
reeeeeebbbbuild the deeeeeesktop.
Why the desktop on OS 7/8/9 didn't just rebuild itself once a month I'll never know. Oh well, it's a non-issue now.
