I think that the latest versions of KDE and Gnome as so slow as to be unusable. You can't just talk about the kernel or the CLI if you're going to comapre Linux to OS X (unless you're going to compare it to OS X while logged in as ">console")
I went to the launch in Chicago.
They had THREE crashes there!
Plus, we caught them CHEATING in the demos 3 times! They were showing how the data would transfer from one place to the other automatically, but when they changed to the other app, some of the data was DIFFERENT than what they just wrote in.
So, at least some of the demos were faked.
Oh please... gimme a break. It would be much easier to simply draw the crosshairs back in than it would be to paste the module into the picture without halos/artifacts. Not that the paste job would be hard, just that the crosshairs would be a job for a 3rd grader.
A default install of Windows 2000 (Server or Pro) installs IIS. Meaning, if you don't do a custom install (which would be close 100% of non-admin-type installs), you're going to have IIS and all of its default subcomponents installed. You don't have to request anything.
Windows NT 4 (or lower) does not install IIS by default (in fact, it requires a separate CD, the NT Option Pack).
I don't know what the defaults for XP are. But, the point is, if you're talking about W2K, the parent post was absolutely NOT bullshit.
Did you know that the standards for quality for bottled water are actually lower than those for tap water?
Needless to say, that does not mean that the quality of bottled water IS actually lower. BUT, don't assume that it's better and purer just because it has a label and you've given someone money for it.
The manual for my TiBook explains how to do this. I doesn't say anything about this being a bad idea, or voiding your warranty, or...
Mind you, I'm not disputing you, or whether this is a bad thing. I'm only pointing out that Apple put directions for this in the TiBook manual (mine is one generation back from the current model).
I would differ with your comment about the dead not having an impact.
I think that cemetaries are a horrendous waste of space. The ridiculous sentimentality we have for the BODIES of the deceased is absolutely ridiculous. And the methods we go through to keep those bodies from going back to the Earth is appaling. I won't even go into all of the resources that we use up to simply stick a dead body into the ground.
I would say that the dead have a HUGE impact.
And yes, I am aware that I'm just asking for moderation hell...
There were actually 2 or 3 Mac emulators for the ST. One of them used to advertise that Apple used an ST with their emu to do debugging because it could handle some debugging tasks that the Macs of that time couldn't.
I blame society ;-)
Perhaps not, but the allergies she was taking the Benadryl for could.
I live in the Central Time Zone, you insensitive clod! ;-)
Central Time Zone
Answer cloudy. Try again later.
To quote AOL users everywhere,
:-)
"Me, too"
Well, at least you aren't bitter ;-)

It's still there, and it has the story.
Be serious. Biz dev and sales are only different to people who work in biz dev and sales.

Three simple words -
Gee Pee Ell.
Nuff said.
Damn. There goes my karma.

I may be slightly off here, but I believe less than half the eligible population voted in the last presidential election.
... and in the end, only NINE votes made any difference.

Ummm...
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
There... that wasn't so hard now, was it?
I'll give you that one :-)

You've never heard of a contractor?
They're going public? In this market? That's crazy! ;-)
Anybody know what their ticker symbol is going to be?
The movie is "An American President" by Rob Reiner, starring Michael Douglas and Annette Benning.

Nitpick: The 970 won't max out at 1.8 GHz. It is being introduced at that speed and will ramp up from there.
That's probably what you meant, but...
I agree. Why can't all program names be as descriptive and their uses obvious as those old stalwarts grep, emacs, and vi? (to name but a few)
