GameBoy was an analogue to Walkman, which was a HUGE brand at the time.
It was a very smart marketing move.
"Wii" is because they came up with a list of good names, but all the domain names were taken, so they came up with with a stupid name that couldn't possibly have been registered yet.
What the artists think is totally irrelevant in Canada. Downloading copyrighted music is completely legal here (for now).
Yes. FOR NOW.
But it's not at all difficult to imagine Stephen Harper trying to send people to jail for copyright infringement, so that's why the forces need to be gathered.
Plus, our weather forecasts being in celsius will scare and confuse the uneducated troops, keeping them from invading. (20 degrees?! In JULY?!) Or if they do invade, they'll boil in their snowsuits in the summer.
MemoryStick - Alright format... you can buy them, and readers, in any tech shop. Don't see what the problem is.
MiniDisc - Major success in Japan, moderate success in Europe... but flopped in the US. So what? The US is not "the world". (ZOMG!!!) I had a MD player/recorder, and I loved it. (Then my brother broke it, like he breaks everything.)
Did people think you needed a "Beta" TV to plug a Betamax player into?
Instead, people will buy one player, and most likely occasionally buy the wrong discs for it. Just like my girlfriend didn't know the difference between Xbox and Gamecube when I bought her a Gamecube.
But honestly, who cares? That's your choice of lifestyle.
You could live in the woods and complain you don't get curbside garbage pickup, and it would be the same thing. Nothing would change unless you moved to a less rural area, somehow started a massive campaign to get curbside pickup, or funded it yourself.
"Gamers" may not shop at Wal-Mart, but "gamers" are nothing but a vocal minority amongst game purchasers. The vast majority of game players just buy whatever's popular or on-sale at the most convenient place.
Just like anyone who has an appreciation for good music won't shop at Wal-Mart... but Wal-Mart still sells more music than all the other stores combined it seems.
They could have used mini-DVDs for the storage format, but really, cartridge-based formats are much better for handhelds.
Hi-MD would have been the perfect choice for consumers, but I think Sony was way to terrified of piracy (since you can easily buy blank Hi-MDs off the shelf), so they went with something a bit more "secure".
It's the "Fox News" definition of "unbiased".
Can we at least smash their computers and cars (which are probably very nice) with sledgehammers?
Stuff like that makes you wonder just how much extra material was shot that never made it in...
For all three of the original movies, there could be over an hour of stuff.
Unless they licence OSX to some major players.
Which they won't.
(Steve Jobs is a very smart guy who is just way too stubborn.)
Nothing's stopping you from driving through the front window of Best Buy.
Aside from the reenforced concrete poles, of course.

I think "Nintendo Wtf" would have much more universal recognicion than "Nintendo Wii", because "Wtf" is what I think when I see that name.
WTF?

No shit. I have one in my room.

A former Soviet Republic has developed Radioactive Bears?
Someone get Stephen Colbert on the phone right away! The world must be warned!
UMD - Yes, it sucks. Bad.

Of course. The topic is "Sony". Let the bashing begin...
Note: My family had a PS2 before we had a DVD player. We bought DVDs to play on the PS2. Same with other people I knew, both local and on the net.
People who say "PS2 didn't push DVD forward" are the kinda people who went out and bought a DVD player the moment they hit the market.
Well, I, for one, wanted to see this page.
I had no clue who this fellow was, and with all this fuss going on I kinda wanted to know what it was all about.
Just because you know the details on a topic doesn't mean everyone else is equally informed.
Could be his house is just so big that you need to make a washroom stop on your way to your bedroom.
Or he just throws really bitchin' parties.
Ok... people are stupid, but not THAT stupid.

Good for you... (ugh.)

Silly nerd... Trix are for kids!

If he, or someone else, manages to fit a full desktop environment within this U$100 Notebook specs, Ill be using it on my desktop too!
I remember using Windows 98 quite well on specs like that...
So? There's no joke under the sun that's original anymore.
They're just dressed-up in silly costumes and presented as "new".
I think I've finally figured out "Stage 2" in
1) Collect Underpants
2) ???
3) Profit
Stage 2 is "Sue over Patent".
"Officer! When I came into the office this morning, I found him lying there dead on the floor with a chair next to him..."

Well, there's the type you put in cookies, then the smaller "ice cream topping" type.
Wow... I'd forgotten about GORP. The staple snack of summer camp. (Best with mini chocolate chips tossed into the mix.)
