Especially if they really let the players vote on what the Sims would do. But I guess they wouldn't really let, as people would cause all sorts of "wierd plagues" to hit the characters.

Some very interesting facts indeed. But the one that really caught my attention was the one about the 6 types of e-mail users. I'd really like more info on that.
Anyone has any idea where to get more info on this? Still haven't found anything.
In Brazil the goverment also provides a way for people to fill their tax forms eletronically and most people (more than 70%) do it this way. There is a MS-Windows only app and a Java-based applications that runs nicely on Linux.
Brazil has 180 million people and voting is mandatory, so most of this population votes.
And it uses a popular vote system, where the whole country (including villages in the amazon) vote using the same format and system, each with their own candidates.
The solution may not be as easy as many say, but it is possible and not near as difficult as some think.
"Our office will be 40-45 people (15 engineers, 7 creative types..."
Man, I hate when people make this kind of labeling. Why the hell engineers are not considered "creative types"? Only people working with Art can be creative? And don't "creative people" have other qualifications, except this vague term?
I know plenty of engineers who are just as creative as any other creative people from other areas. And I also know lots of "creative people" who are not creative at all.

It has been really useful for me, specially as I always have a Pine window open for reading e-mail, and there I can use ctrl+c/ctrl+v, highlight/middle-click and pines ctrl+k/ctrl+u.
a similar thing is happening in Brazil, where there are also state-of-the-art facilities and good doctors for several kinds of transplants and surgerys
it happens specially with people from middle east, rich people that usually went to the US for that kind of thing, but whom in the current situation don't want to go there
some go to europe, but most people don't like the kind of "doctors" in europe, the kind that is too profesional, to distant from the pacient.
they prefer "warmer" doctors, so Brazil gets to be the choice.

what if one of these bodys manage to get to the surface of a non-habiteted planet? wouldn't that "contaminate" the planet?
and what if this body reaches a planet with simple life forms, probably the bordy will have some bacteria or virii, that could be a big hazard to native life
in my case it was pretty straight forward when the company asked me to sign such an agreement I just asked for the changes arguing that I am a associate researcher at a local federal universisty and that my research has nothing to do with the knowledge i use at the company and they happly made the requested changes.
I don't know if that would go so well if my other tie were with a regular company. But I have my publications and even software developed outside the company.
This could be really quite interesting.

Was it just me who got amused that Pesavento in Portuguese means Wind-weight?
:)
I wonder if Wang means somethign related.
Yes, it's addictive.
Especially the parts about improving your character's karma and fighting trolls.
But he already works for Google, remember?
I guess he already aced the test.

How does this site claim to monitor network throughputs across the globe if for South America it makes no measure for Brazil?
(For those who don't know, Brazil is South American biggest country and has the biggest Internet users population).
Is it just me, or they really removed other statistics like language stats?
I can't seem to find them anywhere.
I tried the link, and it seems they removed the stats after a while.
Why shouldn't it apply?
I still didn't see any "evil" action by Google and I seriously give them the benefit of doubt regarding this IPO thing.
What about Steve Ballmer and the Enya CD? What happens to them?
Oh, wait... please don't say anything...
I really don't wanna know.

Speaking of fools who can not shut up, does it reminds anyone of SCO? They have been quite quiet lately.

that is why in latin languages you have two words, magica and magia
magica is magic, illusions and stuff
magia is "soposedly" real magic
You forget at least two things,
Functional languages are indeed used in production environments like Erlang from Ericsson for instance.
And there used to be Lisp machines.
So there are languages used in the "real" world and there "is/was" hardware available.

regarding the swastika it was a symbol of Love and Life and a symbol to protect against evil
that's precisely why the Nazis used that, so even a "good" symbol can now represent evil
what about an supposed "evil" symbol like a devil (ok, ok, it's a daemon)?
of course some people will fill offended
