See... I'm legally blind, and need to get really really close to a monitor to see what's going on. That makes me have to lean over a keyboard while typing, or have the keyboard in some other awkward place/position. Having this handheld controller/keyboard would allow me to put a monitor up to my face, while comfortably typing with the controller near my lap.
Why don't the Media corporations (Broadcast, DVD, etc.) offer huge incentives for switching to digital? Or at least have a deal with the hardware manufacterers to offer the digital TVs at a huge discount to the consumer. Maybe a trade-in allowence, rebates, etc.
Do like the game console companies do... take an initial loss, make up for it in content.
I work in a federal building. I read the HSW article, which piqued my interest, so I googled for "real lightsabers".
Google suggested an amazing1.com page. I clicked. I got an internal Firewall BLockage page. Reason: Weaponry.
I'm probably going to be visited by security soon, and they may take me to Guantanimo Bay... which I hear is nice this time of year. I hope they have broadband.
This is very close to home for me. I'm the systems administrator for one of IRS's Training Centers.
Other posters are correct... Government hasn't embraced technology nearly to the degree that the rest of the world has. My site in particular still has mostly 1Ghz machines, and half of them are still running NT4.
You have to understand that most of IRS' employees are either accountants or lawyers, used to doing everything on paper. Getting these people trained on technology is getting better, but it's classically been like nailing jello to a wall. Only recently has there been any real effort to provide adequite training for everyone who touches a computer.
Also note, Of the ~103,000 IRS employees, I'd say 60 - 75% of them are older, near retirement. We all know how well older people love new technology:)
I *LIKE* it when a Black Troll gets "stuck" behind the fence (that he could easily step over), allowing me to pelt it with 100 arrows without getting a scratch.
Can we blame the RIAA for force-feeding this garbage down our throats?
Or do we blame the "artists" who sign up for this crap in the first place?
Or, just maybe we should be blaming ourselves for tuning in and/or buying this shit because Britney / Justin is a "hottie" and we want to watch them wiggle around?
I love what Prof. Higgins said about the human cloning:
"The fact it can be done begins to move us away from some of the mysteries surrounding human beings; things like the existence of a soul, which frankly is pure imagination," he told the BBC News website.

Me. It seems perfect for someone like me.

I'm going to have to try one out.
"for kicks"??
Yes. I regularly place an M-80 inside a pre-drilled hole inside my head and then light it... just for kicks.
*head assplode!*
THere was a site with some presumably up-to-date information on numbers of "crap" floating in orbit. It even had a nifty little animation.
Anyone know what site I'm talking about? I can't find it.
Yesterday was DIY Marathon Day. Is today going to be Nostalgia Marathon Day?
What about tomorrow?

My head asplode:/
I'm reading all these posts on steampowered and here and, well.. all over the place, and I started wondering why I am not getting nausiated also.
Then it occured to me. Since I have tunnel vision (around 18 degrees), I'm USED to the narrow FOV. Go figure... a disability coming in quite handy!
I want one of these, but I'm going to wait until a later version can track and aim at the target.
Mares eat oats and does eat oats

Kid'll eat ivy, too
Wouldn't you?
Oh the possibilities of handless command of Virtual Valerie:)
