Who's gonna work in this taxfree-state exactly? Once all space is taken by opportunistic industries and the air, soil and water are polluted to an unsuable degree. I don't think any politician would propose anything like that. Also, as far as I know (not much), the SEC is only a watchdog for rogue accounting practices, whitch certainly is important.

The problem is that pretty much everyone, given the right incentive and opportunity, can and will be dishonest. And it's not just a technicality problem, it's one of human nature.

Not the fact that they have all this power, but more the fact that nobody seems to see any problem with it. "Because they do no evil". They still are a company, a big one, and companies (espacially big ones) are more or less meant to be evil. Why would Google be an exception? They did, after all, buy a big chunk of stock in a comonly known as evil one...!

So I think, a better rule is, don't open ANYTHING you were not expecting in the first place. Or if, like me, english is not the language used by your friends, family and associates, english means spam or a virus. Non-english people have it quite easy when it comes to security. I don't really understand why more hacks don't use the almost instant credibility an e-mail in my first language (french) provides. It's not like the whole Net uses english!

Actually, the biggest offenders are the chinese. Their primary ways of making electricity are still coal and petroleum. With a population of 1.5 billion (last time I checked...it grows FAST!), that means A LOT of pollution. Even if you account for some rural communities who don't have electricity, that's still a lot of people.

Yes of course SUVs are nasty, evil and all that but...we (humans) have bigger problems to deal with right now...like obsolete electricity making in some countries (China is not alone in this). I'm in Canada, and here, we use mostly hydro-electricity, which is not too bad; altough, it's not perfect either. I don't know if it is even possible for China to use hydro-electricity but I think it'd be a whole lot better.

So, how do you say "No." to government anyway? And how is it more effective than living like the Amish regarding these injustice you are talking about? Of course, AIDS kills and is still an epidemic in some countrys; but it kills slowly. So for this kind of virus to propagate on a large scale, it would have to wait a while before doing any real damage, like was the case for Chernobyl. The problem then is: how can it stay dormant for so long without being detected?
