  1. If found guilty, on top of remuneration to the school they should make him pay back all of the aid given to him in the US and then since he is here on a student visa, kick his dumb ass out of the US.

  2. It is hard to believe its the tech or even the "green-ness" of it though there are people who believe it is.
How popular would EVs be if it were not for tax breaks and free electricity?

  3. One would think that the German's would know better.
There was a German engineering firm that outsourced the manufacturing of a revolutionary new type of lathe design to a company in the PRC to try and cut costs.
At a manufacturing convention attendees from the same company noticed at least a dozen Chinese copies of their new lathe.
Soon after that the same company was out of business, unable to compete with cheap copies of their products flowing into the EU from the PRC.

Corporations in the PRC are extensions of the CPC.
The potential economic damage that could be caused by a trade war was secondary to the CPC.
The loss of access to IP was considered far more critical to them.

  4. NH3 is oft overlooked as a replacement for current fuels. It offers advantages like no carbon, its common and cheap, it can be used as a transition fuel by burning it now and using it as a cheap and fairly safe way to store hydrogen for fuel cells.

The batteries in electric are a mother to dispose of so they really should not be considered green. It is surprising the FIAT is doing this as they have their own e-line and even make a 500 2 cyl. ice boxen. The FIAT ice boxen are smol and are not a pile of rechargeable exploding boxes and glue. I think a comparison of environmental impact of disposing of the different cars.

There is research showing that those with an allergy to eggs should not get the measles vaccine. The outbreak in NY was started by a Hasidim bringing measles over from Israel and infecting the community. They object to the measles based on religious grounds as it is produced from a raw egg so it is spreading like wildfire. Contamination of the places that members of their community frequent and are shared with outsiders have lead to non-Hasidim who are not vaccinated to become infected.

  9. The theater has a charm of its own though how much remains to be seen as a bespoke 86" screen can be had for just over $2k in the US. The real problem is the studios as there are less movies coming out and more of them are bad. With the consolidation of the studios there are fewer interesting films making it out before they are turned into pablum.

  11. The real problem is that LEOs have proven time and again that they cannot be trusted with data collection. Its like trusting the banks to regulate themselves. Mission creep takes hold and what was once restricted now is shared, especially with privatization. Right now various LEOs are using contractors to handle data collection and processing to avoid restrictions that may have guaranteed that the data was handled correctly and only used for a specific, mandated purpose.

How did he think he was going to get the rounds through the metal detectors with all of that brass and lead? Notice only degrees and not cronyism were mentioned, so nothing changes.

  18. The Feds have been doing this for years. Not video, but audio through services like OnStar. There was a case in Texas where the FBI was caught listening in on a suspected drug lord using his OnStar microphone. The only reason it came to light was that a contractor for GM required to respond to OnStar within a window of time sued to stop the FBI from using the system since the taps would prevent them from responding within the contracted window of time. The implication of course being that the FBI was using the system so often that it was impacting the contractor.

  19. evil on Elon Musk Offered Chinese Green Card (politico.com) · · Score: 1

The PRC is shrewd enough to keep a tight lid on foreign access to industry and education since they would not want foreign nationals doing the same IP theft that the PRC does does by stuffing people into other states industry and education system. Then of course there is also the Billions someone like Mush would bring in hard currency were he to consider setting up shop in the workers paradise.

It is kind of fishy since the only people who hated Trump more than Democrats were Republicans. He was not their candidate and so only backed him since no one else was interested in the usual suspects. The Democrats gave the election to Trump by allowing Hillary to be nominated. Not that the rank and file had a choice since Hillary's nomination was given to her as the result of a deal anyway. There were so many better candidates than Hillary that wee over looked. Bernie ran anyway but had to quit when he was told "here is a half million dollar vacation home and here is a bullett to the back of the head, which do you want?"
