What do they all have in common? They're focussing on single player gaming. Why, oh why?!! Multiplayer is so much more fun. IMHO they should be concentrating on improving multiplayer dynamics, like RTCW and ET. There, the different classes force people to teamplay to be productive.
Back in the days of dialup LANS were the only way for groups of freinds to enjoy an equally balanced, smooth, multiplayer game. I remember packing my car with 3 or 4 of my mates' PCs and lugging them to someone's house. Then we'd spend an hour or so untangling cables, setting up table space and getting all the PCs communicating, before having a few ours to actually enjoy playing a game, then packing up again...
It was a lot of hard work for a few hours gameplay, but it was our only option.
Now with DSL so wide-spread, we don't bother with LANs. If we want to multiplay together we organise to meet on a server an go with it. For me, LANning has died and evolved into online play. Why does everyone enjoy the LANning so much???? Is it more of file-sharing exercise? I don't see the attraction...
One of the National Privacy Principles introduced by the Privacy Act 2000, prohibits a private organisation from using such information to uniquely identify a person. Maybe other countries should follow suit and enforce such a law...
So, Google will build their technology into a browser.. and add mail, news and searching capabilities. then they'll couple that with the desktop search facility, maybe with an auto-translation of emails service... how about right-click on a word (product) in an email and search for its price... Hehe.. might as well add Solitaire and call it an operating system...
Integration's great, but at which point will it just become a bloated, lock-in business model??
Man, that post is gospel... I enjoy tweaking an OS and playing with my PC too... why? because it gives ME more options... Why people play PC-mechanic when you don't need to is beyond me. People should make the time to enjoy their PC...
I say congratulations to Ruckus and MIT for keeping it simple and coming up with an idea just might work. I just hope they can sort out the legal mumbo jumbo and get some quality titles on the network, not just left-over music that no one else will buy....and it's an awesome advertising venue for college bands playing local gigs
hey dude... been a while since I linuxed (read: a couple of years), so can't tell you the commands off the top of my head, but most apps you download (in source format) will give you a readme with instructions. For most, I THINK it's./configure && make && make install
You can run them as separate commands, but separating them with ampersands you force the first one to finish successfully before the next command is executed.
Quick, someone kidnap Gates for a couple of days..
or poke him in the eye with a stick, or something
Umm.. The company wouldn't produce the card if they didn't believe it would sell... blame the fanboys..

oops, subject should read Quake 4, not 2.... it's early in Oz, forgive me...
