Bah, don't worry about it. You are not the only fan. Despite its flaws, I like the games this machine has. I actually have 11 of them myself...Then again, I waited until after it died, paid $30 for the machine, and about $5/game:)
what about the possibility of an app making its own box that looks exactly like the OS box?
I guess more attention on the part of the user is needed, but then the user must also know that an app shouldn't need higher-level access even when it says it does.
The other games weren't *this* linear, though. This game doesn't even have anything remotely like an overworld until the point in the storyline you bring up. You are merely told where to go in some city/dungeon/wherever. In the other games, there was always at least the theoretical option of going somewhere else between.. say Narshe and Figaro.
Anybody with an archos mp3 who uses playlists will vouch for that fact that rockbox's firmware pwns archos. It can take so many more songs and it loads them in a fraction of the time needed by the official firmware.
Agreed. The official firmware only allows a 1000 song playlist, which is highly lacking for such a large disk. Rockbox is configurable to something around 50000. In addition, the official firmware *scans* for each file loaded into the playlist. This took so much time that it was actually faster to make a new playlist with several large directories than to load the same pre-made playlist. Rockbox loads them almost instantaneously.
The Archos stores things both ways. The firmware is stored in flash ROM and can be reflashed with Rockbox. However, by default it will search for ajbrec.ajz on the disk and boot from that. This allows a change of firmware *without* having to flash the rom.
It has 2 wireless networks. One is either completely proprietary, or some derivative of bluetooth, and is basically meant to replace the gameboy link cable directly. The other is regular 802.11b Wifi, and this'll be used to connect to other people over the internet. The second is what this is meant to be used over.

He's Koji Kondo.
..and of course, you actually know that the USAPATRIOT act was used to take down terrorists, and not to screw around with anyone else...

The album was named after the standards body, which is probably the only way they'd come up with such a non-obvious acronym.
What does Transatlantic have to do with DVDs?
I'd love being Kerry Livgren!
I actually recognize Christian Bauer as the guy who developed the old 68k Mac emulator Basilisk II (..and I, I guess...).
This is probably what you're thinking of. It's a modem designed to allow one to play with the Minnesota State Lottery over the phone with an NES.
umm... wouldn't it be simpler to just not put a hole in the center of the beam and keep it stronger all the time?
Funny, I thought JMS was pushing a Star Trek TV show.
Bbut.. isn't physics the only science?

That was a kickass show. I even bought the Season 4 DVD. Absolute shame it doesn't give the show a proper ending...
