I think that's why they call it a faith. You have faith that your scriptures are true and that your religion is correct, and thats what gives you hope and direction.
Science and Religion aren't mutually exclusive necessarily, but what Science cannot prove (or ever prove?) is where Faith begins.
Have you ever thought it might be more involved than that? Sure that helps adjust the clock, but what about when you do a date diff between the time right now (say its after the DST change) and the time 10 years ago, or 2 weeks ago, you'll be wrong by an hour or two depending on a number of factors. For most things this isn't important, but what if you're checking to see how many minutes left on a dialup ISP plan or some other hourly billing. What if you charge $1,000 an hour and you're off by an hour? Things like office have Calendars that need to know this stuff..NET needs to know this stuff as well for time difference computation as well.
There are certain things you can always do immediately for a passed out person- lay flat, elevate the head, oxygenate, check airways, etc- there's plenty you can do that may not help. Removing all of the constricting clothing may leave a naked and embarassed person and may not help, but you might discover a stab-wound.
We can cut CO2 and cut these other emissions, and more than likely it will have a positive effect, but if it doesn't we're still helping the environment and reducing acid rain, etc.
So, yes, you can triage without a complete diagnosis and then go more specific as we figure out what's really happening.
Brings "no taxation without representation" to a whole new meaning. I suppose as long as there were delegates who could meet via video-message (I assume live chat would be worthless at 20 minutes away), it wouldn't be without representation, but the liklihood exists to say that "we're X million miles away, what do you know about what's going on here?".
it will present interesting philosophical questions when we do colonize another planet/moon.
So it's ok to claim land for your country on earth, then militarize and defend it, but it's not ok to claim all of Mars? Ok, so we have to share then- how much? Divide things up evenly among the 200 some countries in the world (is that number still valid?) or divide proportionally by current land-mass ownership? What if a country gets absorbed, do we get their land on mars? Should mars have its own countries? Amarsica? Extra-Planetary Europe?
But if the US gets there first, will we claim the whole planet? Its not like there's contintents.. So- will we claim all of mars, or not? If so- then it might be considered a territory of the US and MPAA still would have reign/rights.
Maybe off-topic, but my in-car DVD player has a removeable face that supposedly is coded and all of that and only replaceable by Phillips, yatta yatta yatta, but if you push in the lever on the front, the thing fires up and works like a charm. I did have a Kenwood MD/CD player that was definitely coded, but I didn't have access to another front panel to test that for sure, but it most definitely didn't work by pressing the contact switch, it just beeped a warning beep.
This is not to say that OLPC's thing is bunk- it probably isn't, but as far as some of the car things go, it's only apparent security, not actual.
The types of jobs where a blackberry would be largely useful are the types of jobs that generally require longer hours and more stress- the people who can afford a non-company provided blackberry probably are the ones who work harder as well.. and if the company provides it, then you're working somewhere big enough they can demand a lot of you. This is a statistic laden with problems.

People get hit all the time by cabbies, drives not looking, etc- pedestrians often look both ways (if they look at all) but then walk out without paying attention again. I have to wonder, of the 3 deaths, how many just happened to have an ipod, but it would have happened either way?
Ultimately, the drivers are 100% responsible and need to be watching for anything that might come in front of the car- forget if people aren't supposed to go or are supposed to pay better attention- be prepared to stop at any time.
don't forget, many browsers have a search bar next to the address bar anymore- an extra tab or an errant click takes you there instead- and then typing google and enter searches on yahoo for google instead of taking you there.. Also people with toolbars installed would have the same problem.
Also look up temperature compensation. The 9/10's cent accuracy is unachievable if you take into account that gas is priced at 60 degrees celcius and most people don't buy it at that temperature. If you buy $13.401 worth of gas at 95 degrees fahrenheit you're being overcharged something like $0.39.
I'd really like to get rid of the 9/10's penny trick all the gas stations use first. Why can't gas be on whole pennies? In the end you get screwed every time.
I think the interviewer was asking, with an encrypted disk, once powerdvd has ascertained the title key via its player key, and you never upgrade (eg never get a newer revocation list) that you could still play the disk forever- eg the revocation lists are worthless anyway.
Obviously, once unencrypted, you can do what you like.

Is there any chance bittorrent is doing this to make a mockery of DRM and send subliminal messages to just download the (illegal) torrent instead?

If it's supposed to be like -100 where you are, it's 95 degrees warmer than normal! Could happen in the arctic somewhere?
could also be worded as "Association of International Associations". Hm. The department of redundancy department anyone?
The Alan Parson's Project.

Call me old fashioned, but when I hear Mod of the year, I think music. Am I the only one who has MOD inexorably connected with music?
I was making a joke about: courageous and coward being used in series.
Yes, yay to the courageous anonymous coward.

Wonder if it would set off ammunition in a weapon being carried?
The cost, if he gets sued/arrested, will probably be commensurate with development costs- if the movie industry has it their way.
