I thought university was supposed to be for learning, playing, getting radicalized, pushing the boundaries, and other such similar things.
What?! You mean all this time I thought college was supposed to be about getting plastered, scoring with tons of chicks, and skipping class to catch up on sleep from that wild party the night before, and it wasn't?! Man, I have wasted these past 3 years!
1. Lack of seperation between content and logic. Embedded logic code inside presentation can lead to a bewildering jungle of death for anyone who tries to maintain the code. Also, repeated logic must be maintained across all pages, instead of changing it in one place. (this goes for all ASP, PHP, perl type scripts)
Judging by all the comments in here about "100's of lines of code pasted in different files" and all that, it's obvious you've never written PHP... There is a little statement that's called require or require_once that will, GASP WHAT A CONCEPT, INCLUDE a file! You can write all this "100's of lines of the same code" in that one file and just include it in all your others! That's what I do for page layout. Call CommonHeader(), there's my navigation bar. CommonFooter(), there's my footer.
Sheesh people, read a little about the language before you bash it
I wish she would have read the thread with all the questions and possibly answered some of the questions that were good ones, but perhaps not modded as high (example the one about stocking the junkyard with needed parts). Aside from that It's always interesting to get a little behind-the-scenes on the Scrapheap.

My co-worker was telling me about this earlier this morning. I especially like the vacuum tubes for the audio on the motherboard. Audiophiles will be drooling over that. Do they make mobos now with that on them?
On a side note, I like the number of pins on the cpu socket. Hammer is gonna be interesting to say the least.
One would hope that legislation as important as this was passed with alot more consideration then a voice vote. The DMCA can cover a very large area depending on your interpretation (note: I have not read the DMCA, I hate legalese). Just goes to show the kind of work the people who supposedly vote for us do.
One thing my physics teacher did was to hang a rod sideways from the high ceiling of a gym by the ribbon from a cassette tape. On the rod he hung 2 garbage bags full of crumpled newspapers. Students would walk towards the bags and the gravity principles would take over and the bags would be attracted to the students. Was a good demonstration of how gravity works between 2 bodies
And then there's always the good ol' fashioned shatter stuff with liquid nitrogen. Always a crowd pleaser. One demonstration I saw at a science museum was freezing beer vs. vodka (low vs. high alcohol content) and observing how long it took, since alcohol has a lower freezing point then water
Why isn't the BBB just laying the smackdown on this guy then? They're a government agency right? It's not like the federal government doesn't have any lawyers, or funds to get one! This should already be settled or thrown out.
Ok but my other computer still has an analog in, and I have a nice little cable that will bridge the 2. Start recording on one, play on the other, problem solved. Sure it may not be the absolute best quality but it still allows me to excercise my right to make a backup copy of cds I own.
Simply put if people campaign against the RIAA effectivly and boycott (of course how hard is it to boycott the crap they are putting out these days) the company will continue to lose money.
But there's a problem with your logic. The RIAA will just blame their loss of profits on more and more people downloading music (I assume here that there will not be an abnormal increase in P2P activity) and use it to pass more stupid laws and sue people.
If you ask me, if you DO patent it, you should be able to just allow people to use it for free, but still maintain the patent. As the patent holder, don't you have rights to license it? IANAL, but it seems like you should be able to license it for free to anybody.
If you're just looking for a way to communicate internally, as a supplement (or even replacement) to email I would suggest a program I found surfing the net. I didn't write it but I've been playing around with it on a few computers in the lab where I work and it's pretty nifty. "Peer to peer network messenger"
Well they can take this time to perfect Hammer and drum up more software as well as hardware support.
As for the 333mhz bus, I heard somewhere that the memory bus speed isn't the bottleneck for the Athlon processors... Well, it's a chance to buy a new motherboard I guess:-)
Heck, 2 acres is a decent plot of land for a house. Plus you got a generator! How can you lose? Use the tower to put an access point up and you can have wireless all over your land, and charge neighbors for access:-)
Here's for more awesome AMD processors! My computer architecture class was discussing Moore's law and we all agreed that it was reaching a plateau in respect to the law itself. Looks like this is the breakthrough that will take processors to the next level.

Corn? That doesn't make much sense, now does it...

Actually I just recently bought a Turtle beach, and am entirely satisfied... so much better then my SB Live. Just thought the vaccuum tubes were nifty

Moore's law states that the number of transistors on a chip doubles every 18 months, not the processing power.
An increase in the number of transistors does not equate the same increase in processing power.

New to Google! It's Google Pet Warehouse! Now you can search and purchase all your pet needs right from your favorite search engine!
Want to know how we did it? Sure, we'll tell you! Some moron sued us and we won! We got his pet store and now it makes us a mint!
Yeah, he's telling you you're out of scotch (or some other alcoholic beverage you enjoy with ice, pick your favorite)

And I was just thinking "I wonder if anybody has told /. about this yet..."
It probably will cost a buttload of money

I guess villans have small penises because at the bottom of that page they have links to Penis Enlargement, as well as online poker!
Why is it every time there's an addendum or update on a worm/virus report that Taco hasta remind us how much crap mail he gets?

So basically they want a sort of A.I. This is news? A.I. research has been around for years.
