Ya know, some days I really hate all the BS that comes with new technology. Software licenses, permissions, restrictions, big brother, et al.
Yet, everyone once and a while, something like this comes along and I'm reminded of how awesome technology is.
Dominos pizza is something you only order when your drunk or high. Now you no longer have to make that obnoxious intoxicated phone call to Dominos. All you have to do is walk to the door, open it, say "errahh Hi, hehehe. Ohh ya, Pizza. Awesome. You're awesome. Pizza is awesome. errahh, Thanks."
Now, if only Dominos could invent a pizza printer to print out their nasty cracker pizza at home. The printer could have a tank of cheese, a tank of catsup pizza sauce, and a pepperoni stamp.
I don't think Apple is trying to hide security information. We simply don't hear about it since no one cares about it.
If you -really- want to read up on all the holes, bugs, and blips known to be associated with OS X, go over to Apple's support site and support forums. If their is a problem, or potential problem, with OS X, odds are it has been discussed over their.
Technically, yes, every update to OS X has provided significant performance boosts... especially for "older" hardware. However, when OS X was released it was incredibly inefficient and noticeably incomplete. Heck, hardware accelerated 2d graphics didn't show up until 10.2.
Years ago I purchased a Dual 450 g4because I wanted to get a giant performance boost from OS X. However, when OS X came out, it only slowed my system down. Even with SMP, OS X was a dog compared to crusty 'ol OS 9.
With the recent released of 10.2 and 10.3 my machine now feels as snappy in OS X as it does in OS 9.
OS X's updates aren't making you machine perform better, they are simply making it perform the way it -should- perform.
Agreed, The ITMS is lacking a number of big artist. However, it's getting better. I stopped bitching when Apple placed nearly every single NinjaTune and MoWax artist on the store.
More artist will come. Apple now allows certain albums to be sold in their entirety (some artist didn't want their albums picked apart), and Apple now allows users to print cover art (some artist hated the lack of album packaging).
Nah. Linux, Win2k and OS X are fairly reliable. I could see potential headaches with the Win2k box every once and a while, nevertheless, Win2k is the least obnoxious OS from the Windows family.
Now, if you were running Win 9x, WinXP, and MacOS OS 9 machines... that's be a different story:)
"The Apple camp exists in a silo, as usual. Music purchased at the iTunes Music Store is only playable in iTunes, and only natively transfers to an iPod family portible."
Or an Audio CD...which plays anywhere.
And hey, I don't see what so bad with being stuck with the iPod and iTunes. Even if I could play AAC files in other software / hardware media players, I'd STILL use iTunes and an iPod.
I'd be one thing if iTunes and the iPod sucked, but they don't They're fantastic. Apple is, more or less, doing what Microsoft has been doing for years. However, the platform Apple forces you to use is actually -good-.
As a professional graphic designer, I'd have to disagree. Moreover, I image most of my colleagues would have opinions similar to the one I am about to voice.
That seagull somewhat works as a mascot (which it is) but not a logo.
Logos need to be simple color pallet . Moreover, logo's need to be scalable and preferably vector based. They should be recognizable at 3/4 squared as well as 4 feet squared. These factors allow one to easily apply a logo to a building, sign, letterhead, etc. Giant complicated bitmap logos are only going to give you problems.
Moreover, simple logos are easier and faster for a human brain to retain. (psychology and sociology are fairly important subjects for graphic designers to understand) People are more likely to gain sense of familiarity and comfortability with a simple logo.
But... anywho... I could go on and on. Suffice to say, I'm not a big fan of the seagull in it's current state. Mascots can get by with silly complicated forms since they are (usually) not logos. However simplifying their characterization usually increases there ability to gain acceptance.
The seagull is a good start, but it could be cleaned up a bit.
We had the release of a "conceptual" Trojan yesterday.... but not a real virus.
Some software company was trying to sell their mac virus software. A real ID3 tag Mac Trojan does not exist right now.... and odds are we will see patches before one comes to be.
Ya, I'm with these guys. Apple has had MS beat on this one for at least 10 years. Macs have been able to read text and correspond Apple Script events to vocal commands for a very very long time.
Heck, even Mac OS's default "waist time at work" game supports vocal commands. Mac OS X comes with OpenGL Chess which you can command by calling pieces and locations. It's like being a crappie episode of Star Trek:)
So when does "Law & Order: Intergalactic Criminal Intent" air? Nothing is more exciting then the criminal justice system of the future (pronounced "FUUuuuuuTURRrrrrrre").

They'd probably have fake Californian and Texan accents just like tech support. :/

Yeeup.
Definitely don't need to buy that.
Considering Macs last longer then cockroaches... they probably won't have to switch linux any time soon ;)

Anyone else reminded of that zombie flick while looking at these pictures?

It's a photo printer. If it has a handle you can take with your laptop, bring it to work, bring it friends homes, etc.
Photo printers, unlike regular inkjets, are small nitch devices. Portability suits them.
If only Americans made AWD rally cars.
I really want to buy a Subaru WRX STi; however, I'm broke. I'm not going to get a bank loan for a cool toy that I can't afford.
