In the spirit of this thread (I am not flaming the community here) I really think it is becoming fashionable to have sheer contempt towards government policies, even if it means losing objectivity.
Besides that, when does the government ever got the policies right for the first time?
I'm sure the software radio is going to give some sleepless nights for the FCC and the concerned parties (like cell phone operators)
I donno if anyone mentioned about similar project

Has quite a bit of technical information of software radios.
Installation information on the site says they currently do not support dual-boot install if you have Windows 2000 and NTFS file system. To bad:-(
I was waiting to give it a shot in my desktop. If they are really interested in a smooth migration path for the Windows users...supporting dual boot is a must.
For atleast a year now! Still clumsy to use and face stiff competition from devices with more ease of use/Storage Space/and offer the same features one way or the other.
(You can always plug an ipod or a competing device using a casette adapter)
H1B workers pay tax like the rest of the folks (appx 35% of the income) have tp spend atleast another 25% on basic stuff like rent etc. This has a profound impact on the economy (as opposed to the job going overseas).
I read on the news that they installed jamming equipment in the Indian parliament because, they can't have a peaceful session with 100s of phones ringing all the time! Must have been difficult teaching etiquette to politicians:-)
I am moving to a location where ATT is not serving (thankfully getting out before the price increase).
I am getting SBC DSL. They are equally worse! I have to listen to their endless warnings to me about
1) Owning my own DSL modem (It may not work!) 2) Connecting my wireless router (We don't support it, we can't give you a PPPoE password directly, you have to install our software blah blah)
Its unbelievable how they try to make you buy their own equipment in stock!
Their FAQ says It will be a high quality low cost linux....... and not free. Also they didn't use GNU/Linux terminology:-) I am sure they are earning the sheer contempt of Rich...
On the other hand I am happy to see this as a standards based initiative, which appeals to the corporate sector better.
Neither freedom nor microsoft (as some dragged MS unnecessarily by comparing RMS with MS) has anything to do with calling it Linux or GNU/Linux.
I don't understand how by calling it "Linux" directly gives credit (exclusive credit) to Linus! Next thing RMS will start complaining about will be to stop calling anything that appears on the GUI as "Windows" and start calling them FreeWindows or GNU/Windows.
With all due respect to the GNU software that I use, I really think Linux has become a generic name. All the fuss about it and equating it to 'freedom' really makes RMS and his folks look like jokers.
I WILL call the Linux as "Linux" because thats what it is!
This is not exactly about flash exploiting the data from your webcam or mic.
I am thinking about any general applet / activex control (or even a messenger client) that an average Joe downloads. What if it starts sending streams (for whatever reasons it maybe)?
Time for webcam designers to put a switch that really turns the darn thing off. Most of the popular ones (including the logitechs) doesn't have it! (Some of them have a stupid lens cover that is more irritating than useful)
I'll bet Peter Parker's adventure surpasses the upcoming opening weekend of Attack of the Clones and teaches George Lucas something about the power and nature of myth
Excuse me? Since when star wars can be directly compared to Spiderman? Next thing is some movie like Titanic will debut and rake up more profits than Episode II and John Katz will write that *this* would teach something to Lucas.
I don't know if Lucas even wanted the star wars to be *accessible* as Spiderman and such.
Now, people can use these rogue websites to their advantage and spam the hell out of people they don't like. So one way or the the others spammers will get to you.
I think the next big invention in internet and computing is a fool proof way to detect and stop spam.
I don't know how proving Windows XP embedded is modular proves Windows is modular. Considering Microsoft's track record, I don't think they intend to do anything modular at all (except if it suits their needs).
The author claims the same thing must be applied to Hollywood gore fests. Does it means that he agrees that the games are gory and sexually explicit and unsuitable for children ?
Just because the courts missed the other media doesn't mean that games should be left alone too. The gaming lobby should come up with more serious arguments than this.
With graphics and rendering getting advanced, the violence and sex in the games is only going to increase. I agree with the author that games are after all not frivolous and can be a good medium for social commentary.
What about other microbes anf fungi they carry in their equipment that gets mutated ? One other thing NASA downplays these days is contamination from space based mutant fungi and other micro organisms.
Do you need the source code of an operating system as a user of that operating system? That is, should you be paying your people to study the intricacies of how the operating system is built and stuff like that? And the basic answer is no.
Well, it is quite agreeable. But if support cost on MS Windows PCs are sky high (because they are a monopoly) then there may be nothing wrong in spending time recompiling kernels. But I wonder that will be the case though.
I heard that Intel might be working on a Pentium based server racks (Like the Netra) which are NEBS compliant and they will be running a Linux on Intel platform.
If that happens, think about how cheap this will be! I think this might be the reason why they are re-evaluating...
Well, its not really odd considering we see multi-color MS Visual Studio ads on slashdot (sometimes on posts that talk about ideologists like RMS :-))

About your sig:
Get a grip pal! OS and other devices are there to do things for you! Not just ask what the OS does for you, demand it to do more!

Anybody thinking about writing a perl script for this purpose? Lets call it postbot.

"Resistance is futile"
I am amused by the name of the poster. Dave cutler is the one primarily designed NT, right ?

How many more MS stories have we got today? (TM)

I am wondering why you would run 10 servers at home ? Just a hobby ?
