Did you ever play the alpha? If that's any indication of the gameplay, you won't be disappointed (and I don't think most people will be).
Even in the very small demo levels they had in the alpha, there were some great surprises - it felt much more like you were in a suspense/horror movie than in a run-of-the-mill fps.
And of course it looked great (lighting especially), and it ran fine on my Athlon XP 1800+ with a GeForce3 that long ago...so there shouldn't really be any hardware issues by the time it comes out.
When I went to see Star Wars on a digital projector I was impressed, mostly just by how clean the picture was. Like, if there was a blue sky....it was fucking BLUE. No dust or hairs anywhere.
The problem was that there was a pixel broken on the projector so there was this little tiny red dot in the middle of the screen the entire fucking movie. Ugh.
That long Alaska trip looks AWESOME. Holy shit. I'm and artist and photographer, and the thought of doing all that stuff with a camera in tow makes me giddy.
Although most of my friends would scoff at the idea of a pasty-skinned me, computer engineer/artist, in the outdoors, I'm actually no stranger to them. My stepdad took my sister and me orienteering with maps and compasses many times when we were younger, and I've been to summer camps where we learned to start fires from found wood, went kayaking, hiking, etc. (for some reason I had suppressed those memories until now - I think I didn't enjoy it too much at the time because my parents made me do it - this time it would be my idea) Now I'm no boy scout, but the point is it wouldn't be such a shock to me. But it would be a challenge, and I love a good challenge.
The only obstacles I see are the tuition (although it costs about as much as a semester of my college, I might find it hard to justify to my parents since I planned on taking courses over the summer to graduate early...) and when to go. There's the possibility of getting an internship at Pixar next summer....*does the little hand-scales up and down thing*...so we'll see.
It doesn't matter if it's "marked" - I think what the parent was getting at was that ANY music can be transferred in real-time to another source without any DRM bullshit. Take a portable music player, 1/8" to 1/8" cord, plug it into a sound card - press record on the computer, play on the player, bam. That's it. No possible to way prevent this. Ever!
When I do some color adjustments in Photoshop to get her skin tone right, she still has purple lipstick on. So the purple lipstick along with that strange blue light that you can see on the bottom of the image is probably what's making her look purple. I also think they bumped up the saturation of the entire image a bit.
He called (Dell I think) tech support for something, and the best answer to my cousin's problem they gave was "your CD-ROM drive is running too fast. You need to get a slower drive."

In case any of you got that "May 19th is Gasoline Boycott Day!" e-mail, here are some articles on why it won't work:
Did Linsday Lohan actually get a boob job? I saw her on Carson Daly (insomniac, gimme a break) and I thought her teats were unnaturally large. Her blouse was also see-through, definite nipplage action. Mmmmmmmmmmmm
...my dad did this when he was a teenager. For some reason he never taught me how.
Anyway, what I did when I was a teenager was wire up an old shocking pen with two wires, attached it to a telescoping antenna, and made a prong at the end out of a binder clip and two paper clips. I went around pronging everybody.
Some grads of our video game (DAE) program work at EA.
The real problems I've heard from Full Sail etc. is that they're insanely expensive, and their job placement sucks.
Although we really shouldn't be comparing schools against each other in specialized fields like this. The degree you have isn't worth shit if you don't have anything to show for it. If you're in video game design, make a game. If you're in 3d modeling/animation, make a short film.
I admit there's a large chance I'll drop out before I graduate, once I feel I've learned enough to work on my own for about a year on a short film that will (hopefully) land me a decent job.
Um....you wrote a column on video game studies and you didn't even find it? That's pretty sad (of your journalistic abilities, not my school.) Cogswell grads work at PDI, Pixar, EA (that's not just marketing bs, I've met these people)...
Admittedly it is one of our smallest majors, but it's there.
I don't expect everyone to have heard of my school, as we don't waste our money on gobs of television ads (like the Academy of Art....yeesh).
My school has offered this for years. Not to mention schools like Full Sail and DigiPen (although those schools are widely regarded as a joke - my school is a full four-year, accredited college). My roommate is in that major right now, in fact (I think they're calling it "Digital Arts Engineering" at the moment).
We're in northern California, so there's no lack of companies around us. I'm majoring in 3D modeling/animation, and I hope to intern for Pixar next summer - it's less than an hour away.
The difference between this building and the ones you mention are that the others are actually pleasing to the eye. Hell, the Sydney Opera House is one of the most gorgeous designs I've ever seen. But this is just ugly.
Also, I don't think you should need "a trained eye" to grasp why a certain building looks good. I'm a trained artist and I still think this design sucks. And how exactly does this relate to Picasso? He's genius was in showing three-dimensional objects in two-dimensional space (among other things). This building would be genius if it showed four-dimensions in three.
Parent should be modded Insightful, grandparent should be modded Troll.
And just for the record, Ron Jeremy, Jenna Jameson, Jenna Haze, Brianna Banks, Peter North, Sydney Moon, Aria Giovanni, Asia Carrera, Sylvia Saint, Chasey Lain, Devon, Gauge, Kyla Cole, Miko Lee......I could go on all day. I watch porn. Masturbation is good for my prostate. That doesn't mean I'm incapable of loving someone very intimately. I have, and probably will in the future.
I watch television. I know probably more than I need to about the "fabulous lives" of celebrities and popular music. But I also read a shitload of books. My library card has seen better days.
I download music illegally (GASP!). But I also buy used CD's. I also go to concerts all the time (mostly independent bands), where the artists I like actually get most of their money from.
So, (this is to the grandparent), shut the fuck up, and get off your high horse.

The real question is, where are bloggers going to go to whine about this????

People also fail to notice the small chloroform vents upon entering.....

A fool and his money....
As someone already pointed out, the "11" is a Spinal Tap reference....
Anyway, my vintage Harmony H400A tube amp goes to 12. Eat that!

I'm sure the licensing would be much more akin to an airplane license.
Oh, and...
What if terrorists get a hold of these flying cars?! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH WE'RE ALL DOOMED
DOOMED I SAY

You think they have high IQs?
psssst.....it's surrounded by Japanese people.
I thought the idea was that the whole thing was upgradeable?

As Buckminster Fuller said, we should focus more on "livingry" rather than weaponry.
Yeah, that's exactly the word that came into my mind when I first read it.
If you want to start your own radio station, do it on the internet.
Ha, one of the only reasons I watched TechTV back in the day (when it was ZDTV) was to see Erica Hill on Tech Live. Mmmmmmm.....
She's on CNN now or something I think.
