I'm assuming this is your manager making the threat and there is a separate HR department. If so then go to HR with your concern and only provide the HR person as your reference (which you should do anyways).
If not then I'd ask your new job if you can start sooner and explain the situation. You don't NEED to work a 2 week notice, it's nice that you are willing to do so but if they are not going to be happy with just a 2 week notice then give them nothing. I'd certainly not ask the new job to delay your start date, your obligation is to them now,not your old job.
very true i find that i've finally reached my limit in the quality of jobs i can get with my education (4 year degree in a non IT field 2 year IT degree). so i have to either start being self employed or got some more education (or be cozy knowing i no longer have any upward mobility)
The problem with not having a degree is that in a tight job market you are competing against people with degrees and more experience. Since you are asking this question i assume you have little experience and no degree so it's going to be tough even to get entry level jobs so i'd go get a 2 year degree in IT and some certs and work while you are in school. After you graduate you'll be in better shape to find a job because you will have a degree and expierience AND hopefully the economy will be better.
Target has blu-ray movies for 15 bucks. Granted they are older movies but that includes stuff like 2001, clockwork orange and i think some other non Kubrick movies:)
I'm not doing a mass upgrade but certainly anything new is gotten on blu-raw along with notable old movies.
Granted it depends how you define 'big bucks' but i'm pretty sure they earn what most of us would consider 'Big Bucks' (and continue to do so even without putting out new material or touring)
a lot of those people are doing what i (and a lot of other people i talk to) did... They paid the 5 bucks at the NIN site, Noticed it was going to take 9+ hours to download from them because it was slammed, went to pirate bay and got the copy from there much quicker.
I'm all for mandatory disconnects.... Of artists and bands who are no longer relevant or interesting but continue to act like they are because of their perceived past greatness.
PLus people tend to forget how much of a prick U2 has been in the past over 'rights' so this is hardly a shock.
yes technically you don't have to produce one but realistically? yeah you kinda do unless you want to be seriously inconvenienced (as in taken to the police station, inconvenient even if you can get out quickly) and want a long legal fight on your hands.
May as well make it a real requirement since it is functionally one now or start electing people who will roll stuff like that back (aka no one with a realistic shot of winning office)
You need to to enter any other country so this is basically done.
> Then you need that ID to get into the country.
already done (It's called a passport and greencard for non citzs).
>Then you need that ID to vote.
already needed
>Then you need that ID to cross state borders.
>Then you need that ID to buy gas.
>Then you need that ID to be a legal citizen.
already needed
So the new ones are state borders and to buy gas... everything else is pretty normal (and it would be handy to have a single id for all of them instead of a lot of different ones
using the "complaint processes to try and resolve the issue" is getting responses like
"It is clear that Wikipedia itself is under attack from a bunch of self-impressed publicity-seeking anarcho-brats who have more interest in carping, whining, and cyber-bullying than helping to work collaboratively to make a better encyclopedia. I think Wikipedia has every right to protect itself from this crap."
>As for why this didnt get caught by QA, they don't reboot their machines. I rarely do either. Plus I expect they have permissions in place to prevent the overwrite
then their QA staff aren't doing qa right. They should be set us like a normal XP used (aka as an admin since that's how most people are set up in XP) and if the directions tell the user to reboot then THAT SHOULD BE TESTED TOO.
i was thinking the same thing... HL and HL2 is a really bad example of environmental freedom in a game as it is the very definition of keeping the player on rails and making them work though various set pieces (ending of HL2 ep 2 not withstanding)
exactly i don't care why you have stupid and annoying policies, just get rid of them. or i show elsewhere. I find it comical that a gamestop is unable to stock enough games for a walk in customer (for something basic like the orange box) and the FYE's next door will be swimming with copies.
It's even more comical when they act snooty about it by saying "see you should have pre ordered" when the store RIGHT NEXT to them is selling to anyone.
>Thats $8,000,000 for Radiohead, their producer, and the web hoster.
exactly, the band probably only got a dollar (or less) per traditional cd. Even if they sell less albums this way for cheaper they probably will make about the same amount (and besides it's not like previous radiohead albums weren't downloaded more than purchased, usually they were on P2P before coming out in stores).
Besides Radiohead is pretty damn rich, even if they make less this way it's prob worth is since they have less BS to put up with from the label.
>but there may be a somewhat unpleasant adjustment period as the increasing cost of imported oil (from a weakening dollar) forces up the costs (via increased transport costs) of all the increasingly expensive manufactured imports, prior to US industry kicking into high enough gear to actually satisfy the demands of US consumers.
any change has an unpleasant adjustment period (just ask the areas that lost manufacturing jobs to china etc) but also opportunity. I don't see short term 'pain' as an serous issue.
>Most products sold to American consumers are foriegn products. American employees being paid less because of the first point above also have more difficulty affording most products they buy, because of the second point.
the only reason that most products are forign products is because they are priced lower. If they become pricier because of weakening dollars (or other currency's becoming stronger) then American products will bounce back.
It's not like we no longer know how to manufacture in this country... it's just that it's cheaper to import.

So what do you want them to do?
Correctly print the code in the first place?
Not require a code since it's not an effective form of protection?

>But, prove to me that what Sony fixed was some major bug or a major feature
you could actually look for yourself and see what was in this upgrade. It was a pretty big one
i'm amazed eFront wasn't on the list but i guess that was more felt by internet geeks than anyone.
>I support the troops. I'm getting a troop support rebate check this month, too!
I support the troops sooooo much that i don't qualify for a troop support rebate check
>We aren't wanted in the Philippines (again, gang-raping women while sporting a large array of weaponry might make us less than welcome there)
no we aren't wanted there... just our money (and that'll eventually get replaced with a desire of euros)
Fugazi?
Granted it depends how you define 'big bucks' but i'm pretty sure they earn what most of us would consider 'Big Bucks' (and continue to do so even without putting out new material or touring)

The whole stormtroopers==cloans idea was around during the development of star wars. It's mentioned in interviews during the late 70's 80's.
Man if someone would only apply this to teaching adults foreign languages i bet they would make a mint.
Perhaps call it something like Rosetta stone...
I remember when they came out with the preview for the 2'nd edition... and it was free (granted it had a lot less information then these books have).
20 bucks for a sneak peak book seems excessive to me.

First you get an ID.

so yeah that's not really productive

i read the price was going to be around 15$... personally i'd pay that rather than buy the old xbox disk so i have less clutter.
Most people liked Indigo Prophecy when it came out... and i know my wife will want the Crash game.
