  1. Nice, but still some definciences on RealPlayer 7 Beta for Linux · · Score: 1

The intallation of the thing was excellant, Linux needs more programs that have an installation like that. The player itself isn't bad, it looks better than the old Real Player. The quality is the same for me, as I had no complaints about the last version. The only thing that really bugs me is I can't seem to view real audio streams taht come up in a pop-up window. For example, The Golith video, or any of the vidoes' on Cnn. Just the stupid "Netscape Plugins" window pops up, telling me to download real player, which I already have installed! It's very annoying, and I'd love it if Real would add that support for the Unix's.

  2. Re:Will it be obsolete in a year and a half? on Microsoft Unveils The X Box · · Score: 1

BUT this X-Box is being aimed as teh poor mans gaming computer, which means it'll have to keep up with computer gaming pace. I'll give it 2 years before some computer game comes out that it can't play due to it's weak hardware specs (64 MB of RAM???) Nintendo, Sony, and Sega don't have this problem since devlopers only make games for a set standard, and they can learn the in's and out's of the sytem to make their games better over time.

Finally, some one who actually has played this game and can really comment on this article. I kept waiting for someone like you, instead of everyone else who was like "Huh? On the palm? That doesn't make sense". Way too many factless assumptions made in this article's responses.

Anyways, I'm very active on a certain (cough nintendorks.com cough) Nintendo board, and that was one of the big complaints about MP1. I myself have not played it too much, just rented it for a few days, but a lot of the people there repeatedly gripped about having to totally screw up their controller doing all that rotating, and then the blisters that all that turning creates. Those kind of mini-games were definitly not liked. It is kind of suprising Nintendo waited this long to do this though, with MP2 already out like you said.

You really love the PSX don't you? You've posted comments both about hwo all the DC games suck and are just "eye-candy" and now it's Nintendo's "cartoony" games.

introduction of the N64 we have a plethora of crappy cartoon oriented games that leave me with the chills

It seems to me you're implying that JUST because it has cartoony graphics it's automatically crap. Perhaps you should try playing some of those "cartoony" games and actually form a real opinion of them. Some of those cartoony games are my favorite games, and the fact they are cartoony has nothing to do with that, nor detracts from that.

almost completely eliminated the concept of cheat codes

Hardly any games have straight cheat codes anymore, N64, PSX, or DC. Most of the time it's "easter eggs". But if you really want them, just look at Game Sages. under the Nintendo section (god I hate frames!)

    require an additional "expansion pack"

Very very few games require it, actually, only DK64 at the moment requires it, and it comes with the game. And there isn't too many titles that even support it. And I"ve seen some really good graphics even without it.

I would rather not spend all my time trying to beat one of those games that Nintendo makes falling in lava, getting shot from 10 directions at once or having the evil elves kill me without warning are all symptoms of this problem.

Seems you can do all the same things (or at least comparable things) on the PSX too. Seems to me you just hate Nintendo, because you love Sony and don't have the capacity to handle two systems at once.

It is really shitty that PSX2 is not going to be compatible with all PSX-1 games as initially thought. Stupid move on Sony's part.

Actually, it's not Sony's fault. The PS2 is backwards compatible with all games coded to Sony spec. The only one's that don't work are one's that did their own thing instead of coding it like it was supposed to be. And those kind of games are a very very small minority, so it's almost like a moot point.

  12. Re:Multi-taps on Playstation 2 Launched in Japan · · Score: 1

But the point of the matter is you have to go buy a multitap for the PS2, while it comes built in on the N64 and DC. And 4 is pretty much the limit for most mulitplayer games, so very very few games let you have more than 4. I'm just sorta wondering about Sony since it wouldnt' take that much extra money to stick in 4 controller ports, and then everyone would be happy.

  13. Re:Multi-taps on Playstation 2 Launched in Japan · · Score: 1

About those multi-taps, why the hell did Sony only put two controller ports on the damn thing? It's so stupid of them. the N64 has 4, Dreamcast has 4, and I'll bet my life the Dolphin will have 4, but yet Sony only puts TWO(!) controller ports on it. Granted, I had always thought the workaround would be daisy chaining some USB controllers, but if that's the case, why release a multitap? They have to be on crack or something.

As for internet accessiblity, Sony has plans to make a broadband machine out of it, but I have no idea how, since many places still don't get broadband. And it doesn't ship with a modem, it'll be an add-on purchase. Again, Sony is on crack.

    3. Backward compaticble with all PSX games coded to Sony spec, and can improve some of them. Not really noticable though from the screenshots I've seen.

    4. Yes, all PSX peripharls work, but the PS2 comes with controllers that look almost exactly like the Dual Shock, only all the buttons on it are analog and not digital.

    5. No idea, but I'm guessing it was just some marketing hype by Sony to make it sound more impressive. I think the deal on that was it was a age-old law that classified it as a supercomputer, when it would classify almost every computer made today as a super computer.
