Sure they do. The engine doesn't support procedural generation.

It's very rare that an established game makes that drastic a change to their engine. It's happened twice that I know of, and not really as drastic as that. EQL for the Luclin expansion, and DAoC for the second expansion (I think). Both times it was an engine upgrade, but nothing so advanced as procedural generation was implemented.

Definitely no XP loss, as already stated by another poster. There is some debt, but it's negligable. Repair cost, at least at level 46, isn't too bad.

There are no shard runs (larger chunks of XP loss/debt tied up at your place of death) like there were when EQ2 launched. I believe that's the case in EQ as well, but my current active account was my second account in EQ, so I don't have access to my main, and just haven't played it much recently.

I remember corpse runs in EQ (I quit playing actively shortly after the Luclin expansion), and they weren't pleasant. Sadly, I never made raiding level in that game (I think I had a Shadowknight in the early 30's, but possibly not even that high). I remember hearing about it from friends. First game I reached raiding level in was WoW, and I tired of the politics and such fairly quickly.

To the respondant below who mentioned Bards and Twisting, yea the most amazing players to actually watch (as in watch at the keyboard) were bards. I never managed to twist all that well, but a woman I know could twist like a dervish, and carry on three seperate conversations, plus guild and group chats (text, mind you, before TeamSpeak or Ventrillo were really used, if they existed at all). All without dropping a single song out of order.

Different people like different things. I've never gotten entertainment by trying to "beat" someone in the way that PvP players like to compete. I also don't get entertainment by paying to be someone's victim...

Newsflash: If you talk like that on the phone, the FCC, given a complaint, can forbid you from using a phone in the future. Radio hosts and prank calls notwithstanding.

It's not defensable behavior if you initiated the call (as in you called support). If you're cursing a telemarketer, that's a different story. They called you.

    ...I WANT YOU LYING SHIT-WEASELS

In the Technical support call center I worked in nearly 10 years ago, we had a button on the phone that would be pressed as soon as the caller became abusive. The call immediately was dumped to a special recording queue, priority attention from supervisor, and disconnected. Further contact from that customer would go directly to our Legal department. At that point they would no longer be permitted to talk to support personel.

I doubt companies are that protective of their trained support techs (hell I doubt they're as highly trained in most companies anymore, all our support near me is well above "first line" type support) anymore.

I'm actually guessing that part of the need for this software is that many first-line types are not only overseas in India or the like, their understanding of English is recent enough that they don't have a grasp of the cues that a native speaker would pick up on long before the software was necessary.

Not carrying cash also makes interactions with beggars a hell of a lot easier. "Sir do you have a dollar?" "Nope, don't carry cash. Sorry." Not that I would have given the meth addict in front of the grociery any money anyhow.

I wouldn't carry the kind of cash Hans was found with without a carry permit, and a very deadly concealed piece.
