    Well on the flip side... once the "defendant" nothing to lose, there's nothing keeping him from "sancitioning" the other party.

    Relying on law at the expense of justice is a damned good way to get oneself (and one's immediate family) killed. Being a lawyer that empowers such injustice is a damned good way to get killed brutaly. A man with nothing to lose is the worst enemy you can have.

    Sounds to me as if Apple has a serious internal security problem. Based on their attempt to cover their own ass, I'd be dumping their stock, if I owned any.

    Show me a DVD encoded at 720p. There are none. GP's point was that the native resolution of both formats is identical.

    Now the UMD has no notable extras, and can't be output at the native resolution (because Sony stupidly doesn't have an interface for the PSP to a HD set, nor do they have players for UMD apart from the PSP).

    You're right, 720p looks better, but DVDs aren't encoded that high, so it's a moot point.

    I guess that could have changed, since the press release and wiki information I'm seeing is from December 2004, but I was under the impression that Bethesda was in fact going to do 3 Fallout games...

    While I despise Blizzard, and no longer play WoW due to Queues and generally unreliable service (as compared to every other MMO on the market) I can't agree with this lawsuit.

    The Jackass who's filing this suit is one of those slimeballs that scrapes freely available information (the kind you can get from any number of free websites that do not charge for it) and packages it up so he can sell it for a rediculous fee.

    Why anyone would by crap like that when you can just look it up on the web I have no idea.

    If he's successful at his lawsuit, I'm sure he'll try to sue Allakhazam's, and every other free game guide site out there for "interfering with his revenue stream".

    And to be clear, Blizzard's not the one harassing in court here. It is the GAME GUIDE writer suing Blizzard.

    WoW doesn't have the same level of availability and connection quality of even the LEAST of it's competitors. They've had more than sufficient time to correct the issue.

    "Not guaranteed 24/7" isn't a good enough disclaimer when the reality is "not available as often as our compettitors... and did we meention the QUEUES?"

    And no, I'm not playing anymore.

    When SoE's level of service and Customer relations compares favorably to your company's you have a problem, and Blizzard has a big one.

    What's broken with the drivers you're using?

    You don't need to upgrade drivers just because there's a newer version. You know that, right?

    In all likelyhood there is nothing in the newer driver that has anything at
    all to do with your 4+ year old graphics card, so you don't need to load the new version.

    If you really WANT to, there's a method (referenced elsewhere in this thread) but it's likely not going to do anythign positive for your performance.

    Settle down, Sparky.

    There's nothing new in the current drivers that will do ANYTHING for cards that aren't on the official list. 70 Series Forceware drivers are the best for those OUTDATED cards, because the new features for CURRENT cards don't apply. You're not going to get those features for free. The OUTDATED card doesn't have the hardware to support it.

    The text override is there so that ANAL RETENTIVE FUCKWITS like yourself can force the new driver to run on the old hardware (at a lower performance level than the older drivers would provide) and make themselves feel good about their TECHNICALLY IGNORANT, BELIGERANT selves.

    Anyone with a 5000 series card that thinks current drivers are magically going to make their card run oh, say Oblivion, is a FUCKING IDIOT.

    Caps added for your benefit, since you seem to like them so much.

    Monaural sets like the Jawbone are worthless for gaming... unless you're playing Tetris.

    Personally I only use surround speakers for my game sound. Headsets are for voice communication. I like to know where things are by sound. A mono earpiece, or even most headsets simply will not get the job done in that regard.

    Dunno. I read the name as AstroGlide and thought "hmm, that's an unusual but highly-appropriate-for-Slashdot name".

    The headphones themselves look like a cheap clone of Shure type studio headphones, with a 1/8" stereo jack rather than a musician's 1/4". Not worth $99. $45 maybe. Since I already have real studio headphones I'd just use those if I really wanted to go with the "enclosed" headphone model...

    Overall I rate these "meh".

    Not personally bothered by the whole Slashvertisement thing. I assume most products linked like this are in one way or another. Kind of one of the reasons I read Slashdot, to see the new Shiny Thing.

    Fortunately, Auto Assault just isn't very good, so it won't be difficult to "boycott".

    Honestly though, as far as gaming fixes, No one game is going to get a hold on a gamer such that they are going to put up with something they hate. There's just too many choices, too many alternatives. I loved playing WoW, but I won't put up with waiting in line, so the choice to quit, even after a year of playing, was quite simple.

    There are folks out there with no will power, but many people who draw the line at say, advertiseing in-game mean what they say.

    Absolutely. First thing I thought of. Other thing I remember about ARK II is that the costumes were so similar to the ones on Space:1999 I (as an 8 year old child) was convinced the shows were in the same "universe".

    Absolutely no connection really, but they both had a lot of similar gadgets too...

    You really don't want to experience "pwn3d" in real life. Treat you IT folks like humans and not servants. Treat them like servants, and you're in for a nasty suprise... and more thank likely so is your credit rating, your bank account, and more.

    Outsourcing is bad. You make enemies here who can destroy you, and you give people who give not a single shit for you in a far off country complete control over your company's data.

    I don't think I ever got III. Just the first two. It was long enough ago that I don't remember much about them.

    I haven't even played through the new one yet, to be honest.

    I believe the classics on the PC version either come with DosBox, or recommend using Dosbox to run them. I have a stack of games that I bought and haven't got to, so I haven't looked apart from doing the install and the tutorial for the new game.

    And yea, the main thing I do remember about Pascal was that stuctures were a pain, mainly because I think declarations were done ass backwards from every other language in common use at the time. I was about 19 and in college when I did the character editor, so there are some uh... mitigating factors to remembering specifics of that time period...

    I do know that the original Bards Tale series is packed in with the New (ish) Bards Tale for PC that was recently released. No idea about a Mac version.

    Wish I hadn't lost the save game editor program I wrote all those years ago for that game. Deskview + Norton Hex Editor (or whatever it was called) helped me reverse engineer the save format, and I managed to put together a TurboPascal program for a front end to edit the file... I couldn't write a line of Pascal today if you hit me with a cattle prod...

    Really? I "work for a living" in the computer field, and I haven't encountered an app that required a dongle, much less a parallel port one, in over 10 years. I assume Autocad still does, but I hardly limit my definition of "work" to Drafting...
