Virginia/Cornell have been using the name Fedora since 1998. I don't think Warren Togami has anything to take exception to. Both of them should just share and get along. Fedora is a regular noun, a type of hat. Its not a made up word someone can take claim to.
It was one of the funniest cartoons ever, and they dicked it around. Cancelled it, brought it back. Now its on tuesdays, no now its wednesdays. You could barely catch an episode. And then they wouldnt air When You Wish Upon a Weinstein season finale because it was too offensive. Cartoon Network aired it though. Screw Fox. Bring the new episodes right to Cartoon Network where they belong. The only downside is people without cable will miss out. But I still think its the right thing to do.
I get atleast 5 a day now on AIM, more than I ever used to. Its not that annoying because you can tell its SPIM before accepting it, just by looking at their screen name and warning level. Sometimes I accept them to read the funny ads though, heres the best one Ive ever gotten:
Hes kissing the RIAA's ass on the surface, which is a good idea for obvious legal reasons. But he really means it to be satire, on the inside, and the RIAA cant prove otherwise. Thats my take anyway.
The deletion stats are done via PC monitoring. The current consumer opinion of the RIAA is done via telephone survey. You mixed them up.
Methodology Note: NPD MusicWatch Digital information is collected continuously from the PCs of 40,000 volunteer online panelists, balanced to represent the online population of PC users. NPD's MusicLab survey was fielded in September of 2003 to a representative sample of 5,000 respondents aged 13 and older.
MusicWatch is the deletion stats and MusicLab survey is the opinion survey. It's a confusing name scheme, certainly an understandable mixup.
Kudos to you for actually going to the NPD site and finding out the basis of their claims before bitching on/. And to answer your question: Hmm I wonder if people who know their computers are being monitored are more likely to delete their digital music files... Maybe that would affect the validity of this study, you think?:p
Yes; this is called voluntary response bias in statistics. People with large collections of illegal files are much less likely to volunteer to have their PC watched, as you implied. Note from the official press release:Eighty percent of the consumers who deleted files had fewer than 50 files saved; just 10 percent had more than 200 files. I think most people will agree that 80% having less than 50 songs is not an accurate representation of the file-sharing population.
We shouldn't stop protecting the environment just because some analysis was wrong. Its funny that we even need justification in the first place to preserve the planet.
if u watched the newscasts or read the article, you would have seen that one tomacco would be extremely lethal. Go ahead and give that to your kids, they make the connection that tobacco is bad real quick.
I don't if your aware of this, but gift-certificates are prepayed. thats the point. you wouldnt have any iTunes bill to pay, cause you get 50$ then your done. I think your missing out on the concept here.
The issue of an ink signature is not really valid, since as many people have already pointed out, electronic sigs hold equal legal weight now in most states, CA included.
Anyone ever get an instant tax refund from H & R Block? Its really the same thing as what Lindows is doing. You sign over your right to them, you get instant payout, they get to make the claim for you. H & R gets a cut, where as Lindows pushes their product in exchange for fronting you the settlement.
Also, Lindows isn't encouraging false claims. If you get away with a false claim, then your only screwing Lindows and not MS. They now own the rights to an invalid claim, and they won't get reimbursed, even though they already gave you software. MS shouldn't really care about this.
There was no problem with digital signature in the CD suit, and there shouldn't be here either. I don't see anything illegal about what Lindows is doing, but it is a sleezy piggy back manuever.
Yep, makers of the premier program for cracking windows passwords (L0phtcrack) are now buddy buddy with Microsoft. Some might call it selling out, others might call it a business model. Thats just reality.
Companies have every right to fire you for things you do outside your job. You represent your employer. If I work as a mechanic and I get convicted of rape, my company can understandably fire me.
One of the best features of WASTE is that it is fully secure, using link-level encryption and public key authentication.
"Security: WASTE uses link-level encryption to secure links, and public keys for authentication. RSA is used for session key exchange and authentication, and the links are encrypted using Blowfish in PCBC mode."
Also, it should be noted that waste is only for small scale use, around 50 nodes at most.
If you start CloneCD before inserting the CD, it will lock the drive, which takes care of autorun. Then use the protect audio cd mode, which only reads the first valid session. Then u can make images and/or copy all you like.
Blackjack is not a 1 on 1 game of skill like chess is. What you and others dont realize is that blackjack and all the other casino games are defined as games of chance. You are not supposed to have an advantage. Its not even supposed to be even. The house always has the advantage overall, and you will always lose overall. If you don't like this, don't gamble. If you understand gambling, its nothing more than a form of entertainment. You pay to be engaged for while, then you go home. Once in awhile you win, and thats an added bonus. If you expect to be a successful gambler, your a fool.
Computers never make mistakes, do they? Im sure you've all heard the quote that goes something like "the problem with computers is they do exactly what you tell them to."
the wheels can spin freely. There is nothing in the sensors that tell if the tires are on the ground Actually, you're wrong. When the wheels are off the ground, the sensors in a car do know, causing the computer to activate Traction Control, which his Trans Am and many other cars have. If the EDR doesn't record that traction control was activated, its due to a lack of foresight by the car's engineers. The computer did exactly what it was told to do.
There is already a portable playstation and its cool as hell. Check it out! I know its not quite the same but still. And this guy has made other cool units, like portable ataris and snes.

Whats the big deal about having to buy a headset? They aren't limiting your choice or saying you have to buy theirs.
Your complaint is like a golf course offering free course usage and you complaining that you have to buy/rent clubs. Usually you pay for both.
As for software choice, its 3rd party, out of dartmouths hands. And they are working on Pocket PC and Mac versions anyway.

Too bad she didn't take a position at Fox News. Then we wouldn't have to accuse her of being a biased media personality, it would be implied.
