pfft. It's a fun movie. It has cars, robots, boobs, car chase & explosions. What more could you want.

I guess Google are looking at it like this.

    1. They manage to win the bidding war = one less adspace competitor and quite possibly more customers.
    2. They manage to up the price by millions maybe even billions of dollars and one of their major competitors (Microsoft or Yahoo) ends up spending an inflated amount on something they would have bought even if Google didn't enter the race.

    Google can't lose.

I seriously doubt they'd continue the marketing style of DoubleClick.

(I too didn't even realise doubleclick was still around *hugs adblock*)

Why not have .POL for political sites too!? So that countries could block that as well. This is basically sneaky censorship with a typical 'thinkofthechildren' twist to it. Once these people get their way and start segmenting the internet into little chunks of what they think is right and wrong is when the internet will stop being such a bastion for free speech.

  22. Re:Rich man's GED on Bill Gates to Finally Receive His Harvard Degree · · Score: 2, Insightful

Yes, but he's giving a talk to people who are striving to get a degree. So he obviously sees it as something that's relatively worthwhile. He even tried to get one himself.

I think you're putting too much stock into this "honorary degree," it of course isn't worth the paper it's written on and everyone knows that, including him.

It's just nice to get recognition, who cares who it's from.

That's all it is, recognition. If you're too high and mighty with your 'I did well in spite of having a degree Ha Ha Ha society take that!' then I think you're missing the point (and it's probably a good thing you didn't bother spending 4/5 years attaining a degree).
