"The Xenon GPU is a custom 500+ MHz graphics processor from ATI.... Xenon not only supports high-level shading language (HLSL) model 3.0 for vertex and pixel shaders but also includes advanced shader features well beyond model 3.0."
ATI doesn't have (true) Pixel Shader 3.0 development done yet... (if they did I'm sure there'd be an X800 XT Turbo or something) let alone implemented into a processor, even more ridiculous is the "shader features well beyond model 3.0".
Another thing is the technical limitations on have 3 CPUs and 1 GPU sharing the same L2 cache, while technically feasible, it's not a good idea, the bandwidth of the L2 cache would be severely taxed. It would make much more sense to have the smaller L2 cache for each processor. (Even this "locking down into segments" doesn't improve bandwidth...)
a 3 core processor each running at 3.5Ghz is pretty unlikely on a PowerPC based technology... 2.0Ghz probably... 3.0Ghz maybe. And a dual core probably not. But a 3 core... come on...
My money is on some lonely XBox fanboy made it up.

Redflagdeals.com is a lot like slickdeals.net (mentioned above) but for more aimed at Canadians (in Canadian dollars, tries to target Canadian retailers... etc). Handy site, I picked up a generic 4 port wireless router for $37CAD - $40USD mail in rebate a few weeks back!

... I wasn't on a coaster when the power went out... but a few of my friends were.
I was standing in the arcade... when the power flicked off the first time (and ate everyones money) it came back on for about 3 minutes... just enough time for everyone to pump another few bucks into their machines... then it all went dead for good. haha.
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 0001337 How to be cool: Since you're not smart enough to know better, make sure that whenever you encounter one of our 'bugs' (blue screens, poor driver support, poor security, etc) you whine bitch and compain, even though you have absolutly no reason too... because these aren't bugs. This in the end will make you much more cool. Now please turn around while we remove our giant boot from your ass.
I remember this same 'hurting companies' issue when VCRs came out, same with cassette tapes, CD Burners, MP3s, DVD Burners, and now to a lesser extent PVR's. It all comes down to: "There is a potiential to lose money here, lets stop it."
oh, and if you're stupid enough to fry an egg on your PVR, you shouldn't be making ANY kind of claims about it.
Of course I bug report.:o) I'd like to apologize for the last message... apparently a few moderators thought it was flamebait? oh well... I'll give phoenix another try... maybe at 1.0 or so. Until then...... until then why are we reading a headline on slashdot everytime a new version comes out?:oD
themes support, type ahead find, and number of improvements to pop-up blocking, toolbar customization, and tabbed browsing
Is this really light? I mean sure the pop-up blocking is nice... but is the rest really necessary? I downloaded ver. 0.3... and it crashed the first time I opened it... not generally something I look for in a browser. IMHO they should fix bugs... not add new features.
While this should make it quite a bit tougher for script kiddies to place their mark on a page, I doubt it will stop any real hackers from getting to a site's DB as that would still need to be r/w."
I think this is made light of. Even if a script kiddie defaces your webpage, it's still embarassing to the company. You can call him a lamer all you want, it doesn't help any. These hard drives make your server just that much more secure... even if it is just a little. AND it's plug in and go (nearly), because believe it or not, there's more to business than computers!;o)
War Driving is the term used from when people would (and still do) drive around with wireless networking equiptment and see how many places' networks they can see/play with along the way. The term comes from "War Dialing" which is pretty much no longer in practice. It was when phreakers would dial numbers in order until one picked up with a modem answer, kind of like brute force password cracking. Once a modem answered, most of the time people just tinkered with things to see what that particular phone number had in it. For more information on war dailing, see the movie "War Games" (this is a CLASSIC 'hacker' movie).
I would assume that you do the same thing with X10 stuff, just hook it up to a laptop and drive around until you got a signal. Hence, war driving 2.0.
I thought that time travel guy said he'd have his device ready by fall! Now he's already been here and back telling about the rise in computer prices!!
As a school project the two top students in using our CAD/CAM software (in this case MasterCam) were going to design a part for the Ford Windstar. I would go into detail on what it was, but it was so insignificant no one would care about what it was or what it did (no wonder they let grade 12 students build it).
I also mill custom paintball guns, and other misc. paintball parts. And on the occasion built from scratch car parts!
The point is, using geek skills, and losing the fear of getting a bit dirty, one can get pretty crazy with a wrench (this time in a CONSTRUCTIVE way!).
SO this means, I can shine a flashlight in my eyes and learn all kinds of crazy shiznat?
SWEEET! My folks always said that some of my neurons weren't firing!
Gran Turismo 3 = SegaGT
I LOVE SegaGT, its ported to pc... its sweet.
Frankly I don't see why everyone is so concerned about upgrading their computers every 2 years. Most of you are ready to throw your selves in front of on coming traffic to get the new super-duper-ulta-512-mega-(*insert console here*) for 500-600 bucks. They come out every 3-4 years sometimes less. And people are beating themselves and each other up to get them. Its all media hype by Sony, Nintendo, and (now) Microsoft.
If your not intelligent enough to update a driver in windows, or click the install button that comes up when you put in the cd (autorun) you shouldn't be posting on slashdot. IMHO.
Why lug around an A4 sized screen when you can...

I'd LOVE to have a NAN, but I can hardly get my neighbour to cut his lawn and keep the neighbourhood looking good. Not to mention that he could care less if he had access to my Hip Hop MP3 collection, he'll go on to -insert fav. P2P client here- and download his favourite country music songs himself.
No one (well where I live anyways) has ANY interest in technology (esp. things that will cost more money), so long as the Cable stays up, or their DSL still works they're happy.
Funny, but...
Read things before you post: "Temps prior to the mod were 40C MAX. After the overclock, they increased to 43C MAX. With the addition of a thin aluminum plate to the top of the chipset and CPU (adding pressure between these chips and the stock heat plate) I was able to get max temps down to 37C, lower than what they were prior to the mod. "
If you would have read the article you would have noticed him saying "Battery life at 600/100 is about 15-30 minutes less than 500/66...and when the speed is switched down to the 350/100 setting, I get better battery life than I did at 400/66."
IMHO 15-30 minutes isn't much to lose for a power gain like that.

Perhaps I missed a point in the article, but what about security? I mean, would it not be possible to intercept other peoples SMS messages?
Another topic, this could be used (if widly excepted and implemented) to 'file share' those logos and ringtones everyone loves.
I don't know much about cellular technology, but those are the two ideas that came to my mind when I read the article.
