You, along with most people, are confusing jail-breaking with unlocking, unlocking modifies the sim so it works on networks other than ATT, jail-breaking is just modifying the phone software so you're able to upload programs to it. This guy was involved in jail-breaking not unlocking. The two are completely unrelated.

There's no such thing as "reset permissions", there is however "repair permissions". "Repair Permissions" in Disk Utility goes through the receipts in /Library/Receipts and verifies the permissions on installed products. It is only rarely useful and has no affect on the home folder.

As far as AppleTalk goes it's still in wide use and supported by most printers.

It doesn't matter to me who wins in the HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray battle. Why? Because regular DVD's look great! High definition looks better than non-HD, but not THAT much better (especially considering the costs).

I recently purchased an HD-DVD player and I can tell you there is a HUGE difference, you don't realize how shitty DVD quality is until you've watched Serenity at 1080i. Even terrestrial HD broadcasts look light-years better than DVD.
On an HD broadcast small details are extremely clear, textures are much more true to life. Watch the Tonight Show or CSI in HD sometime, it's easiest to see the difference in the texture of clothing.
