  1. How does spam STILL work?? on Massachusetts Drops Hammer on Spam Gang · · Score: 5, Interesting

I am still baffeld at how and why SPAM still works?!?! Everyone i know complains about spam, even the most non-technical people... Yet, apparently, some of them still go and buy stuff...

I'd be very curious to see some figures on how much money was spent on spam-started purchases last year....

Ofcourse it changes the TCO... but the difference here isn't Licenses + Support (MS) vs Support only (Linux)...
I think the TCO thing takes for granted that a lot more people are pre-trained on windows during school/college... versus training people for linux's cost falls on to the company...
But I wasn't even talkinga about TCO.. just wanted to dispute the claim that MS support is bad.

This is completely wrong. In the last 3 corporations i've worked for in the past 6 yrs, Microsoft support has been nothing short of impressive. Ofcourse, provided you pay for the right support, Microsoft really takes ownership of a problem and always fixes it. Perhaps i've just been lucky, but I've always been impressed with MS's support.

You fail to see the coolness behind taking things appart and putting them toghether in a new and fun way.

The point isn't that if you want to drive, drive a real car... the point is that they hooked up a car's steering wheel, breaks, all gauges, etc... to a pc and got it working in a game... i'm damned impressed... expecially with the electronic gauges...

The nice thing about these, which may help proppel it into a standard, is that one side is the HD side with 30+ GB, and the other side is a standard DVD 8.5 GB... meaning you can play the 8.5 side on regular dvd players which everyone has, and still own the HD version of the movie when you upgrade later....

Yes you can, but you need a hex editor. Load up the exe and goto this address: 23HX,12BA... change the H to an F... This will let you literally drag and drop simulation (.sim) files in the loader and run them. I showed this to my boss earlier today and he's been busi all morning creating sim files to try out.

As paranoid as it is, this will never happen. I read a wired article once, which mentioned such implants. One of the doctors were sending electrical inpulses to the motor-skills parts ofthe brain and found a place which made the patients arm rise. The patient said he wasn't doing it it, but was able w/o effort to put his arm back down and overide the electrodes. On a side note, brain-PC technology will be amazing once developed. In time, your brain will be able to adapt so well to this that you won't have to think individual letters to spell words.. eventually, just thinking of ideas and daydreaming, could automatically translate into sentences and pagragraphs. Imagine the same for graphic/3D applications... after the system is trained and your brain adapts (years of practice, ofcourse - which is how long it takes to learn to write, btw), a designer could just sit and his imagination would drive the pc. I can't wait!!!!! If anyone needs test subjects, let me know!!!!!
