WHAT people are swaping video tapes of the recording of me playing? im going to sue them all!!" and this is one thing you'll certainly never hear a footballer say "Look, i cant be bothered to play today, how about i just turn up and stand there while a video screen plays back some of my goals?"
Ok so some musicians do make an effort, but there are too many that think they are high and mighty and just because they can string together some chords (not original chords or melodies mind you) and some lyrics mostly ending in "baby" and sing into a box that fixes their tuning that they somehow deserve to be treated like kings and queens.

Microsoft Office is even more - again for the home version and thats something that for home users atleast - OpenOffice easily matches as a drop-in replacement. Only recently has Windows come with even basic firewalling, and we wont even go into the fundamental problems in the OS and its security fixing service.

The best way to deal with it would be a no-bullshit government: You have to get rid of the politicians basic human rights to privacy, the people need to know what the president is doing at all times, who is he speaking to? who are his friends? why is he making a decision? A court jury cant go around fraternising with the prosecution. You dont put 50 students in an exam room and say "get on with the test, im just going to leave you all alone for an hour while i go to lunch" so why do politicians get so much privacy?
They are pretty much a corporation out to make whatever they can. The evidence is everywhere, the dodgy dealings are well known yet no-one cares or thinks they can change the way it works. I always thought it would be cool to have a set of network messages that you could have played instead of picking up - eg "We're sorry, the network is currently busy, please try again later" that way its totally not your fault. Also a bad signal or fault simulator would be great - so even if its you calling them, you can make it sound like somethings wrong and even have the phone cut out with an authentic sounding message about some kind of technical problem. Failing that, pulling the battery out nicely simulates going on the tube, until they get all the ariels down there.
It really makes you wonder when you know that all these big companies and even government offices (yes this sort of thing is not isolated) arnt some magical place full of infallable important people, they are actually just full of morons bashing at keyboards who arnt quite sure how to use a calculator.
The whole point is that your faking it, if the reciever is making the noise then its not going to be very fake:P also if you did happen to be in heavy traffic or a carnival, there wouldnt be any silence to filter out. I want a client that will automatically open and run attached scripts in html emails and allow them full access to all the mailing and address book functions. I want a client that will let the true url in a link be hidden so i can be tricked into clicking on it and entering personal information, but most importantly, i want the company who makes this software to never be mentioned in any bad way, because i want to buy stock in them and i dont want it going down!
Hang on, i recently used Musicbrainz to do just that - scan my whole mp3 collection and compare it with an online fingerprint database. Well actually that was more so that it would automatically rename my files and add the correct id3 tags.
The point is, these file sharing clients aint just gonna get hacked to bits, we are going to take the piss so far as to actually use this system to make the filesharing network work better - someone will release a kazaa-lite style hacked client that uses the fingerprinting to correctly identify files, delete fakes, add meta-tags and generally make our lives easier. RIAA, suck my cock.
