    this is why my Dlink G network stopped working one day a couple of weeks ago. I was working just dandy for over two months and then it would only connect at 1-2 Mb. The connection would only last a minute or two and then nadda.

    Nope.

    That would be Managment Recruiters International (http://www.mrinet.com/). I had been approached by them several years ago but I wasn't ready to make a move. A few months ago, they contacted me again and the timing was right. Rod was great to work with and didn't oversell me. As a matter of fact, he dropped me down a one position so that I could enter the organization on a comfortable level. THAT is what I call professional.

    I have been there for two months and it is the best career move I have ever made.

    And then in the very next paragraph:

    "Many Linux contributors were originally UNIX developers who had access to UNIX source code distributed by AT&T and were subject to confidentiality agreements, including confidentiality of the methods and concepts involved in software design."

    So my question is, which way was it?

    off of ebay for about two years ago. The thing is a tank. It cost a bit more than 100 bucks with shipping. It came with a postscript module, JetDirect card, a toner cartridge (that I have yet to replace) and 6MB of RAM. It does everything I need, the output is sharp and doesn't smear. I still have my Epson 640c for color stuff, but I rarely use it. I have put about 3 reams of paper so I figure I have gotten my money back in ink cartridges I didn't have to buy. On top of that it's a LOT quieter than the Epson.

    Well I don't know about the rest of you be here we have three license servers that only run in Windows. ACAD 2002, ProE and Autodesk Inventor. If I go to my boss and say I want to run Linux, but we have to go back to individual licenses for our CAD packages he is gonna pop a vessle. I like Linux. I think it is quite a bit ahead of Microsoft on a lot of things, but it just doesn't fit here.

    This is offtopic, but there was a DOS 4.0. It was actually made by IBM. The first PC I bought I had a choice between MS-DOS 3.3 or IBM-DOS 4.0. I picked 3.3 and was happy.

    Heck... I am running a P3 Xeon 500 as I write this. It was the fastest thing in the building where I work until two months ago when Mechanical engineering got new p4's. They were running the same machine I am now and using all kinds of CAD with some Pro-E and Inventor (didn't work to well).

    We still have some P-166's in use here too.

    You have a good point there...

    My ex-wife's uncle used to get elected over and over again for city councilman, even though he never contributed a damned thing.

    He would do something really stupid a few weeks before an election, like fall asleep drunk in a parking lot. It would make it into the papers (of course). Then when people went to the polls it was a case of, "I read about this guy in the paper, but I don't remember what about. I will vote for him!"

    What happened was the PC and home based consoles. Why shove quarters into a game console at an arcade when you can play all you want at home (once you bought the equipment of course).

    I used to work at an arcade many years ago and I have seen buckets of quarters flow through that place.

    On a side note, I was the lucky guy that got to stay late and convert a console to "Shinobi". Stickers and all. I don't think I left until around 3-4am. The mall guard pestered me about every half hour too. The next day I told my boss I had to wait for the paint to dry. Had to paint it blue you know.

    The specs say "Internal 100 MHz (not 100 MIPS) operating frequency, generated by a PLL from an external 20 MHz clock signal." Yes folks, that's a smokin' 20 MHz FSB.

    And yes, serial is the way to go. It is designed for the embedded market, not laptops or desktops.

    Question: I just got rid of a bunch of 486 hardware that ran at 100 to 133MHz, why would I want this thing in a desktop or laptop?
    Answer: I wouldn't.

    Damn, I hate to bust on you but all companies need money to survive. Even Microsoft. If they had the attitude, "Hey we have plenty of money... let's just lose money from now on and it will be OK." They would eventually be gone.

    I don't like some of the things they do either, but they can't lose money on the Xbox line (meaning: Xbox, games, Xbox Live service) as a whole. Sure they can lose money on the base Xbox hardware forever if the rest of it pulls a profit.

    You are correct. I have a water cooled system and there is no way you are going to get condensation as the coolest part of the system is slightly above room temp.
