It could be a scaling issue with your HDTV...I run into a bit of jaggedness with anything that isn't high res. However, I like to watch old Night Gallery shows from Hulu on an standard-def TV and it looks great. Also, I think PlayOn does transcoding, although I might be wrong on that point. If you're on an older PC, that could make your Hulu videos look like crap on your TV, especially if your video quality is set to "Auto." I have PlayOn running on 2-year old AMD64 machines.
You can run Hulu on Xbox 360, PS3 or any other dlna client with the PlayOn server for Windows. I run it on my XP box and Hulu works just fine on my 360. It's $40, but well worth it. This is also why this whole Boxee situation is funny...PlayOn is designed to stream content from your computer to your TV and there has not been one peep whatsoever about any difficulties with Hulu. No one has been able to provide an honest answer as to why PlayOn has no problems with the Hulu folks while Boxee does.
A shallow materialist will laugh at the "900" year old axe. Meanwhile, the deeper meaning is that someone has a connection to 900 years of family history and tradition.
The social hierarchy of dogs is functional and aids in survival in the wild (well, more for wolves). The strongest one leads. With humans, it's all disfunctional social constructs.
This. It's really a matter of semantics and no regular user will really care. For example, I think of OS X in this manner already. It positions itself as an extension of the hardware and I think of my Mac as a unified hardware/software experience. However, because Windows is marketed as a product/experience that is separate from the hardware, we get into these types of discussions.
The printing industry is heavily dependent upon PDF files in their workflow. PDF attachment via email has basically replaced the fax machine in any professional industry. The format offers everyone a standard format that will look exactly the same everywhere. And, I can create a single PDF from multiple source documents (spreadsheets & word processor docs).
A few years ago when Yahoo! still had message boards to discuss news articles, I was reading Slashdot and saw that somebody plagiarized one of my posts on Yahoo! about the same story. Worse yet, someone else plagiarized the response. It was fun calling them out on it.
Hulu works just fine on my TV through the PlayOn dlna server ($40 paid app). I still can't get a straight answer on what Boxee did to piss off Hulu. If anything, you'd think the PlayOn guys would be in deep shit since they're selling software that lets you stream Hulu to your TV.
In one of the 5 books of the Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy, Arthur Dent's daugher, Random, had something like this implanted in her hand that gave her all sorts of information about the planet she was on.
This reminds me of the Howard Stern Rest Stop controversy in the middle 1990s. When Christine Todd Whitman was elected governor of NJ, one of her campaign promises was to name a highway rest stop after Howard Stern. The designated rest stop ended up being one that is notorious for anonymous gay sex.
So, does Hulu's content pass through Boxee's servers and then Boxee redistributes to its users? That's what the problem is then? With PlayOn, Hulu goes straight to my computer where it's transcoded and made available on my home network. The funny part is that I can connect to the PlayOn stream with Boxee if I add it as a source (although I prefer XBMC).
Nobody can answer this 2-part question honestly: What is Boxee doing wrong to piss off Hulu? What is PlayOn ($40 dlna server) doing right that lets me stream Hulu from my XP box to my Xbox 360, PS3, Popcorn Hour or any other dlna client via transcoding the FLV stream?
Reloaded is my favorite film of the trilogy because you already know that awesome stuff can happen in the world of the Matrix and it's going to end on a cliffhanger because there is a third film.
I've been using the PlayOn dlna server for months now and Hulu works fine through it (along with Netflix, Amazon VOD, CBS, ESPN, CNN, Revision3 and soon ABC). What are they doing right that Boxee is doing wrong?
Rimmerworld wasn't in a parallel universe; it was just really far away, but accessible through a wormhole. But, we would lose Ace Rimmer and Kochanski.

Because most people aren't as pedantic as the typical Slashdot reader.

Stewie, I have to tell you about your future!
No, Michael, let me tell you about YOUR future!
At least in the Northeast US, Arnold's does not put HFCS in their bread and the packages are marked as such.
The plural of lego is legos. The common usage of the term defines what the plural tense is, not the marketing department of the Lego company.

Medicare admin costs are cheaper than private sector costs.
Jesus H. Christ...I am thoroughly convinced that the British (and many other Europeans) have a fetish with subjugation and pacifism.

I guess Joe Biden was ahead of the curve on this one.

Whenever I throw something and my dog catches it, he's inherently working out the position of the object and its velocity in order to catch it.
