    That seems a bit excessive when a simple one-time usage of the included "passwd" utility will suffice. Srsly though, jailbreaking utilities should be pestering users to change their password from the default because this is only scaring less-knowledgeable folk into thinking Jailbreak == viruses

    Unless of course the author of a particular jailbreak utility WANTS to compromise the target units.

    You are out of luck. I would suggest leaving Mom's basement and getting a little sun and perhaps actually talking to some girls. You'll get results faster that way. Trust me; it works. It does require the Social Interaction plugin for your Operating System, but that is freely available and has been for millennia.

    Exactly this. Google's entire business model is based on data mining. Allowing people to sequester their data on hard drives where Google cannot access them (legally) is contrary to their aims. I'm not implying anything sinister, although I have my own reservations, but it's exactly why they won't allow hard drives.

    It's the line that always works. A lot of us live in places that still have very poor cellular signals. Most adults have landlines so I'll assume you're young. I'm not knocking your choice, but don't assume that everyone can do without one.

    Sorry but that's just utter BS. History is filled with examples of people who knew each other going to war against each other. The US Civil War is one good example, as is almost every other Civil War in history. The American Revolution is another. Knowing someone doesn't mean you won't kill them if you are given the chance and situation to do so.

    As an interested layman who counts cosmology as a 'hobby', I keep feeling that the String Theories as well as M-Theory are somehow flawed for the very reason that they are not parsimonious and introduce more questions than they seem to answer. I also keep feeling that at some point some brilliant young cosmologist is going to come up with a theory more elegant and 'simple' by an order of magnitude that renders them obsolete.

    That has absolutely NOTHING to do with it. The fact remains that many ordinary citizens are seeing 50% of their retirement funds go POOF overnight. What % of the total pie that is is meaningless to those people.

    Most people ARE Wall Street whether they know it or not. At least, anyone with a 401K, pension, or other retirement fund. The fat cats at the top are getting bailed out but THEY are not Wall Street. America is Wall Street these days.
