Sure these particular examples could lead to short to gain over long term gain, but how is this different then when leaders make discussion that ARE popular for the same reasons. Like, getting re-elected. I fail to see how giving the people the power to make bad discussion is any worse then letting leaders do it.
Agreed. The use of the word "mistake" implies that there was some sort of intelligence designing the genome and it make a mistake. This just sounds like "random mutation + natural selection = evolution". No need to call it a "mistake"
"The rights that you grant in this licence are for the limited purpose of operating, promoting and improving our Services, and to develop new ones. This licence continues even if you stop using our Services (for example, for a business listing that you have added to Google Maps).”"
I don't agree with the way Sony is doing it, but at least they are doing something. Some of the multiplayer games are completely unplayable as cheating is rampant. Something needs to be done as they're ruining the games for honest players.
I agree. They should be violating the rights of people who have done nothing illegal. They should knock down the doors of as many innocent people as possible so that you can PLAY your games without having to stay up at night crying because you lost a game to a cheater. I feel really bad for you. Your life is being destroyed because you can't play your games. boo-fuckin-hoo.
Agreed, But that's not what the blog is about. It's just a cautionary tale about what can happen to someone addicted to a video game. Similar to the tales you hear from ex-junkies. (Though the resulting "life destruction" is not the same, it can still have an adverse effect).
I use to play WoW 20+ hours a week, and before you know it, it can take over a major part of your life. Yes, people should have self control. BUT, this is an addiction for some people. (ie. It stimulates the reward center of the Brain and causes a withdraw effect when away from the game) To simply blame the "victim" all the time is erroneous and ignorant. Sure there is no physical addiction or withdraw, but a mental one can be equally as devistating. I don't have a solution for the problem, but if it is adversely effecting the rest of your life, then you have a problem. If it's not, and you enjoy then by all means play your face off.
When i first loaded up WoW i was amazed and in love with this virtual world. I really got in to the fantasy of it, and it was a great escape. Like a really good book. Unfortutely after many hours of playing it became more like a job. I wouldn't even read quests anymore and get lost in the story line. Just search thottbott, find the goal of the quest, get my exp, rinse and repeat. Finally I realized i was no longer playing for fun anymore, i was only playing because I felt i had to, i had invested so much time into the game i needed to keep going. That did it for me. I cancelled my account and haven't looked back.
This wouldn't even raise an eyebrow in Canada or Europe. Being here in Canada i know something like this wouldn't even come up on our radar. There are things like this shown on our Publicly broadcasted, publicly owned television station, the CBC.
You American's are too uptight. If you don't like what's on TV DON'T WATCH IT. You don't have to wreck everyone else's good time because you're a square.
It's not about proving anything with the stat is about show a comparison that people can relate to. A lot of times people will think the risk of something is huge when because of the coverage it gets. For example the number of people killed by terrorism is a lot smaller then the number of people that die as a result of smoking. But look how much fuss and coverage terrorism gets.
The stat is just there to give people a little bit of perspective on the true risk and how it compares to other risks that people don't worry as much about.

It goes on to say.

stop with the trolling...
Yes, that's exactly why Facebook never worked...

My car travels at sublight speed.
I don't think naming conventions really matter at this point.
Because you can't sell bug fixes, only new features!!!
Yes, it Embiggens ray tracing nicely.
You are forgetting of course, that the earth is only 6000 years old.
"I think the real fear is the DRM layers that are built into Vista are at the root of this problem"
If you RTFA it explains that it isn't DRM causing the problem.
I'm glad Christians are smart enough to worship a carpenter that lived 2000 years ago. Silly natives.

"People wreck their own lives."

First Incident of Web-Rage or the millionith (ish) incident of one Human going nuts and attacking another.
So, What's new?
actully.. I was trying to make a little joke.
...anyway.
Part 1 of the joke:
A lot of people think Opensource = The Cats Ass
Part 2:
DRM = Has to be bad no matter what!
Therefore, combining the two stereotypical and unthought out rationals a lot of people have, there is a conflict.
Open source? and DRM.. Nooooooooooooooooo so.. conflicted....

The best part is, the way the Canadian dollar is going, we'll be making the same joke about the American dollar.

Judging by the reviews and scores of the game I wouldn't worry about too many people playing it anyway. (3.1/10 on IGN).
I find it hard enough to use windows now with all the adware you get, I can't imagine using it with built in adware!
