Good thought, but how much of the general population is using BT? I have to explain the concept to everyone I know, and they still don't get it, even after I install it and show it to them. Yeah, BT rocks, and yes it's the cause for 33% of internet traffic, but it's still just one-step too technical for the masses. As this is a sports site, I don't think you are talking about the most 1337 group of visitors to it.

First and foremost, You've got good taste in film. I like that.

however, I think the parent is getting at lack of original sci-fi in film, which there is a lack of. The only thing jumping out at me right now as original is Sky Captain, which wasn't a juge hit.

I'll get flamed for saying this I'm sure, but Sci-fi does not have the same wide appeal as any of the movies, for example, you just named... You need something to hook people, something they can relate to based on something they have already seen. That's why all Sci-Fi or fantasy is coming out of things that already exist.

or maybe Hollywood really is out of ideas...

I totally agree. It was one thing in the original GTA (or other games from that era) when you had this overhead veiw and (by today's standards) crappy graphics. GTA, while still not photorealistic, is pretty lifelike.

As games get closer to looking real, and the things you are doing are more realistic, the line between real and game gets blurrier. I'm just waiting another ten years for a game engine that mimics real life with 99% accuracy (physics and graphics) and then see how people act after playing GTA 8 or 9 or whatever is out then.
