One of my biggest gripes is that Microsoft got three useless Windows keys added, when the three most useful keys to add would have been dedicated Cut, Copy and Paste keys!!
That aside I never use Caps Lock, it's a curse and in fact a modern typing menace. Scroll lock is useless too but always seems to stay under the radar. At least it doesn't piss me off like Caps Lock does when I am trying to type a password with an 'a' in it and nail caps lock by mistake. That Caps Lock key is a sneaky smarmy bastard compared to Scroll Lock.
When will some engineer at one of these companys get a brain and put a 20gb drive in a Pocket PC!?
Then we'd have the ideal MP3, Video machine that is infinitely more useful and at a comparable price.
Without understanding hydro dynamics at all I can comfortably say that if you gain some energy from the water then yes it has either lost some kinetic energy (or some mass)

That said....unless someone gives him all his devices for free then geesh just buy different devices! If you are getting all your devices for free and then you have the nerve to complain about the color of the LED then shut your friggin pie hole before I give you a punch in the throat.
Comparing Veneer to Plywood is like comparing a Luxery Sedan to a pickup truck.
Venner is meant to be a very thin single layer of an exotic or other fine wood. It is a non-structural product that requires a sub-surface to bond to. Veneers have been used extensivily for 100's of years and can even be traced to use in ancient Eygpt. These days veneers are thought of as a way to build things cheaper, this is sometimes the case but traditionally veneers were used to allow exotic woods not suitable for furniture to be used for that purpose. It also allowed furniture makers to express curves and other fine details in ways not possible traditionally.
Plywood is a utility product. It is a combination of the structural material and a veneer (assuming you are talking a finish grade product). You would rarely (if ever) see an exotic wood plywood (like Walnut Burl). Finish grade plywood is aimed at the DIY folks and contractors and is a common staple of home projects and kitchen cabinets.
There's nothing wrong with plywood but for myself:
I would be willing to use veneers if I was building a fine piece of furniture.
I would not be willing to use plywood/mdf/etc if I was building a fine piece of furniture.
Whenever you Ogg guys read a music related post. Try substituting the word Beta wherever Ogg occurs and the word VHS where ever the word MP3 occurs. I think you will quickly get a better picture of your present situation and your ultimate future.
Maybe then you will stop whining and use the wonderful array of products available instead of bitterly complaining about all the BETA tapes you own.
While your figures are doubtlessly accurate they are premised on some misguided notion that the costs of launching small crews of 4-5 people into space is somehow related to the national budget, GDP or someother economic indicator.
Also consider that while inflation did occur between 1965 and today, the inflation rate of a niche market like the aerospace industry is likely different (not sure if it would be higher or lower) then the average inflation rate posted. The posted inflation rate is for common goods like food, clothes, cars, etc.
For instance the average desktop PC cost from the 80's until now has dropped while it's speed has increased, I think that goods like a PC are more related to the aerospace industry then many of the items considered for the national inflation rate calculation.
I for one am certainly convinced that NASA could accomplish a LOT more with the budget it does have if it made better decisions. focused on clear achievable goals and wasn't afraid to make hard choices. Further I think that spending it's money wisely and delivering on it's commitiments is a faster track to an increased budget then the current technique of "fail and whine".
I have an Optascope 81M USB scope from
http://www.optascope.com
I recommend it highly. Nice software and really works well for me. Also only $189.00!
Specs are:
1 Ms/S Maximum Sample Rate (500Ks/s 2 channels)
200 KHz Bandwidth
20Vpp Max Input for CH1 & CH2
8 Bit Vertical Resolution
2 Channel
External Trigger Source
Trigger on Rising or Falling Edge at Any Voltage
Variable Trigger Voltage on DSO channels
10%, 50% and 90% Horizontal Trigger Position
Auto or Normal trigger modes
USB interface
Slow!?!?
Compared to what, your brain, a pencil and paper? It should beat both of those.
A PC? Yes, it is slower than that.
If you are doing the quantity and depth of calculations on the HP48 where it's speed is an impact then you are using it for the wrong job.
It's like using an electric drill as a hammer.
My 2 cents.
P.S. My HP48sx is still going strong after almost 10 years.
I buy all my CD's retail in Canada and have yet to pay $0.77 per CD total (tax included). I have no idea where this levy is paid but it's not from my pocket.
Retail cost of 100 blank El-crappy Brand CD's in Canada is about $50.00 ($36.00usd). Brand names are higher. Where they get thier $0.77 I'll never know.
On the flip side I'd just love to burn some Anne Murray....not to CD, just in general, with a match.
Imagine being able to go further and keep going longer, all with the same effort. The INDEPENDENCE iGLIDE Manual Assist Wheelchair is a brand new category in high- quality wheelchairs. The iGLIDE Manual Assist Wheelchair is designed to supplement your own natural effort with a smooth, motorized motion. We call it "Manual Assist" because it puts you in control of your motion, and gives you a boost when you need it. In this way, it assists your own manual effort by gently propelling the chair using a small, tucked-away power source and a "smart" microprocessor.
Now you can enjoy amusement parks, long trips on the boardwalk, and rolling hills... you can move over grass and carpet...all with the same effort. All thanks to the advances found only in the INDEPENDENCE iGLIDE Manual Assist Wheelchair.
Given the previous poster mentioned that FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, Cisco GLIBC and MAC OSX all use 64 bit salts I think dispite your clearly worked out reasoning those darned idiots went ahead and used 64 bits anyway.
I was thinking about switch to Mac OSX too but if it requires the age of the universe each time you login... well I don't have time to wait for that.
If you truly live on the Eastcoast that must mean Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI or Newfoundland. In Nova Scotia and PEI at least there is full competition for phone and internet services from Aliant and Eastlink.

-- (2nd phone number)
-- (100 free LD minutes in Canada)
- High Speed Internet (120 KB/sec)
- Cellular Service
-- (200 free daytime minutes)
-- (unlimited Evenings and weekends)
all for $79.00 a month. (That's $53.00 usd). This includes all access fees, etc except the 41 cent 911 fee.
I could also choose to get Local Phone service, High Speed Internet (even faster then what I am getting) and Digital Cable for $99.00 (no cellular).
There's plenty of good choices on Canada's east coast and most things are well priced.
Gee I never had any annoying nag screens after I paid for my copy. Perhaps mine has a bug??
Sometimes I think the Open Source movement is more about a bunch of cheapskates then about quality, innovation or any of that other crap.
In Canada you could do Canadian Tire Money. Everyone knows it and spends it. It's pratically as good as real money and it should be 'easier' to copy. Too bad the largest bill is a $5.00 and if you had a wad of them you'd be highly suspect. More likely you'd need to copy the 10 cent and 25 cent bills. Lotta work.
Sure you can throw away your money on either of these 2 gadgets. Or you can check out the Archo's jukebox multimedia 20.
- 20gb (40gb coming) - 8 hr battery life - DivX video playback to Tv or screen - built in 1.5in lcd screen (in color natch) - Awesome sound controls - USB 2.0 and Firewire (natch) - Optional SmartMedia and Compact Flash readers - Optional 1.2 mega pixel still and video camera - MP3 recording via built-in mic or external - Video recording module - Remote Control - ALL of these items (including optionals) come in cheaper then an iPod!!
P.S. I used mine daily for the last 6 months and it's incredible! Someone once asked me if it was solidly built. I threw it over my shoulder to demonstrate bounced it off my floor picked it up and it hadn't missed a beat!
Now the cons to be fair:
- The battery isn't easily changed
- The playlist support does NOT match the iPods
- The camera attachment needs a flash
- Video recording module has mixed reviews
Oh and it does NOT play Ogg/Vorbis. But would you people please get over it! Nothing portable plays my.RAM,.AU, or.MIDI files either let alone my 8-tracks, but do I rank about it at the top of my lungs trying to drown out everyone else enjoying their paltry MP3's.... Nooooo.

That's not even figuring on the fact that it's 7 cents for every time a song is played per user.
