This seemed to be pointed more towards the middle-school level math courses, but I never had algebra that low. I took algebra I, II and precalculus in highschool, and IMHO (this being two years after i graduated) the problem is that algebra classes have to cater to the lowest commmon denominator, since they're almost universally required for graduation. Even in college calc, our teacher had to spend a few minutes refreshing everyone's memory on basic algebra (factoring, synthetic division, etc)because we never really learned it.
Of course, one approach would be to fail the fuckwits that can't hack it, but apparently teachers catch more flak for failing lazy students than passing smart ones.
I personally would not complain. better they call you now, than ignore it when some fool steals your credit card and goes on a shopping spree in Seattle.
I'm going to college soon. If by some miracle i get an apartment, what are some things you recommend that are simple, filling and nutritious to make with the most basic of gear?
Might i reccomend my recipe for Antacid milkshake (the 2 liter recipe) because after eating two gallons of chili over any length of time you're gonna need it
But the main reason i'm holding out is that i cant afford to blow any cash right now...I dont know that i'm going to spring for the one with the bookends and all that stuff, but i do want to see the 30 minutes of extra footage..
Has it occured to you that maybe Mac enthousiast are enthousiastic because of the quality of Apple's tech support and that the probable reason that the Dell customer has no particular love for the company is because their products are not very satisfying...
I'll grant you the first point, But is it not also possible that being Mac enthusiasts to begin with, they might be likely to gloss over any bad experiences theyve had with tech support? Also, Joe Sixpack has no brand loyalty to computers. If he buys a Compaq, and gets screwed by compaq somehow, next time he'll get a Dell. If Dell works out better (in tech, or price, or what have you) then next time he'll get another Dell. Or maybe he'll get a locally built machine for 500$ cheaper. who knows. point is, the majority of Dell owners are NOT wearing "Dude you're getting a Dell(tm)" Tshirts and pimping Dells to their friends, as some Mac users i've known. They simply use whatever works at the time.
Doesn't Iowa have some nasty storms? What happens when a few million volts of good old lightning fry a few dozen machines? Hope they got a nice UPS for every couple computers.
Heck, how many of you folks use envelopes instead of the (much cheaper to send) post cards? What? You don't want them all to be able to easily read your mail? Even though most postal carriers would probably never bother?
Perhaps the majority of us would like to write more than what fits on the back of a postcard.
I live in a state where you don't screw with perfectly legitimate state workers for the sheer purpose of being an asshole, nor do you greet someone at the door with a shotgun (so sayeth the parent post) without having gone though more peaceful methods
In a very rural setting like this, the survey crew isn't going to get a lot of support from the local sherrif, and the state law enforcement has better things to do.
The state law enforcement has better things to do than arrest someone for open threatening or assault with a firearm? Damn, but i'm staying the fuck OUT of that state.
I think, that for anyone who would actually be interested in which codec does best on which kind of music, it's a moot point, since by now they delete anything below 128kbps on sight
Good point--i'd be fulling willing to pay more than a quarter to play a game with some actual strategy, ie Rainbow Six or a hopped up version of Time Crisis...anything that lets me choose my own path

Well, it sort of does that, it depends on what you're listening to--with radio it's largely unnoticable, except for a slight boost in volume, but with CDs, esp. live recordings there's a nice difference, it sounds as if it's coming from about a bit behind the speakers, and spread out to the left and right, as an actual band would be set up
I remember reading something on the discovery channel on non-lethal weapons that indicated study was being done to use directed sound (in the subwoofer range or lower) focused on people's midsection to make 'em become disoriented and puke their guts out

I have a stereo with Qsound built in, not sure what it was supposed to do originally, but it does do a good job at making the sound appear to NOT be coming from the center of the tapedeck (the midpoint between the speakers) so i leave it turned on rather than off.

They call it a Darwin because drinking it weeds out people that can't handle their alchohol? =)

Not to mention a Dilbert comic....
Why just the fist? Up to the elbow man...
What made you want to become a patent examiner?
ADOM(Ancient Domains Of Mystery) FYI it's the same sort of text-based thing as Nethack, but a bit harder
