Abortion is one of those issues that if you're against it, there really is no middle ground so I don't really see why any politician would push stem cell research for this reason.

Adult stem cells have shown the best treatment options while embryonic stem cells would have the same issues as organ transplants.

That's not really a fair comparison. Adult stem cell research hasn't been restricted for the last 8 years.

It is more about politics and money at the cost of ethics and good science.

It's funny how you make this statement, after you just made this remark:

Cord blood would likely be as effective as embryonic but does not help the abortion stance

That has to apply to a very small minority of people (especially game players) though ,and they are more than welcome to stick to the Wii and avoid Steam all together. I highly doubt Valve is trying to appeal to this type of customer. Hell you could probably break that cap playing WoW for a few hours.

That is such a ridiculous claim. How the hell would they not have the ability to make that decision? It's not like Valve has absolutely no foresight what so ever. They could release patches way before they give control over their servers are shut any thing down

If the servers shut down and everything just permanently stopped working, you would be pissing of a monumental amount of users in a unprecedented way. I really think it's really in Valve's best interest to not let such a thing happen, regardless if they aren't going to be around afterwards. If by some incredibly small chance the that Valve fails to release a patch to validate the games, I'm sure some 3rd party will find a hack that will render the games playable again.

Why don't we wait until Valve stops releasing chart-topping PC games before we start spreading the FUD, eh?

There are plenty of websites out there that have all the information you could ever want about WoW, and then some. Besides, Blizzard doesn't need to outsource development of secondary apps to amateur developers, because they have extremely talented developers in house that can do a much better job. Also, you completely ignore the fact that Blizzard provides a scripting language for users to completely customize their GUI (too bad Eve doesn't have this because it's GUI is atrocious). Why do video games have to limit themselves to one method of providing entertainment, while movies and books can provide entertainment in any fashion they please?

And I *highly* doubt anyone out there will be terribly interested in buying and experiencing a real, honest-to-god war simulation.

I bet you at one point, when the film industry was just beginning to take off, someone said "I *highly* doubt anyone out there will be terribly interested in experiencing a realistic, honest-to-god, war movie." Seriously, the author of this article is pretty daft. He makes the argument that hardcore games are on the decline because they are selling poorly on the Wii. No shit sherlock. Why would anyone buy a Wii to play hardcore games? Second of all, some of the games he claims are casual can just as well be hardcore games. For example, the "Guitar Hero" genre has developed some of the most hardcore video game players I've ever seen. Just look at the video of all the kids playing these insane songs. Lets not forget people hacking their consoles in order to create their own songs too. And like you said, WoW can be just as hardcore as it is casual.

And one thing is for certain, hardcore gaming isn't going anywhere. All the top sellers on the PS3 and XBox360 are what the author would call "hardcore" games, and if you combine the sales of those consoles, they are outselling the Wii. He says there aren't any hardcore games coming out in the near future. I guess he doesn't really follow what Blizzard is doing at all.

Hardcore video games were never outselling casual games in the first place. Just look at the best selling games of all time:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_games

The list is dominated by casual games that have been released in the past. There is no decline of hardcore gaming.

Maybe because in the grand scheme of things, nothing really has changed? No matter how many times you die, you can always get a new squad or start the game over. I don't think you can really make an argument that "switching consciousness" to other members of the squad makes any thing more realistic, nor gives the player a better insight to what death really means.

The statistics have an error rate of +/- 2 million, which means the Cube might have sold as many as 24 while the Box might only be 21, due to miscounts on the sales. QED as I stated, "the Cube and Xbox are in a statistical tie for second place". ----- When you get into college and take Stat/Probability 101, you'll better understand. It's equivalent to an election year poll showing McCain is leading Obama 47% to 46% but with an error of +/-2%, and therefore a statistical dead heat.

I'm sorry, man, but the GP is right. You are a huge fanboy. If you are quibbling over possible discrepancies in sales reporting just to say that the Gamecube might have been second, then it's obvious you have some biased opinions. The fact that you care how much a console sold compared to another (seriously, who gives a flying fuck?) shows that you feel like you have to prove that Nintendo is the best thing ever. The GP wasn't even trying to bash Nintendo, he was just saying that it appeals to non-gamers and 3rd party developers are having trouble with the console. Which are simply facts.
