  1. I would start with the rinky-dink games first. on Nintendo's Early 2005 Strategy · · Score: 1

If I were to release a game console, I'd get the already tried-true game ports out there ASAP.
You know, things like ports of Tetris, Columns, possibly Bejeweled. Release smaller games in packs for a dirt cheap price.

Then move onto the card, gambling games, and maybe some board games(chess, checkers, etc).

Then get licensing for the classic game ports(Atari, Namco, bunch of arcade ports, etc).

Why? These games are (mostly) already made. No need to spend tons of $ on actors, writers, etc. Nintendo has done this to some extent by re-releasing NES games on the GBA, but they could go a bit further. Boom, instant seed library of games for a new console.

I can't do much else with it. Since support for it has disappeared, i can't go to Best Buy to get software/hardware for it. Why? they have already made shelf space for the 1000000 other PDAs and their pricey accessories.

Sadly, every place i've seen online that sells Handspring gear still sells it at ungodly high prices. Yeah, they will be sitting on the shelf for years. I'm talking to you, mr $200 medical dictoionary module, and you mr $300 WiFi unit, and you mr $150 56K modem.

I can see why PDA sales are dropping. They find it necessary to release one every month it seems. Good luck getting all sorts of fun freeware when developers probably moved onto the next latest greatest PDA.

I would say spam has claimed a victory here. i do find some good usage out of local groups like mn.general(which is generally spam free, but not political cook free), and the grand-theft-auto newsgroup.

But with the playstation2 group, it's 99% cross-posted-to-other-groups flamewars between ps2 and xbox users. *sigh*. Never bothered with the binary groups since I just could not figure out the obfuscated mess that is FreeAgent.

Comcast supposedly moved everyone over to giganews, which is a paid service with either 1 or 2 gigs a month. Wow, 2 gigs of spam per month! Sign me up! Thankfuly their old server still works, but they keep it quiet.
