Well teh pro-sco zealots have already been interviews and published online.
Now quite frankly I dont think Stevie gives a damn as NeXt is based on BSD and as much as SCO wants to wish it away.. the BSD case is 20 years old. As for Ballmer, well if need be he'll buy SCO and bury it. Its not like MS hasnt done it before.
Linus has had his bit and he think SCO are full of crap. So Sam is all yours.. have at it.
if they have been refining the patent does this mean that they have been actually adding the work of others to their patent. Possibly adding (after the fact) prior art in order to get coverage on current technology?
With the exception of most recent history Blizzard really pisses off the macintosh community. Every week they would say "oh the mac version is coming out RSN, and of course it really took them month and months, everytime recommiting themselves to the cause.
For those not familiar with the term its related to pinochle (and i think bridge) where you attempt to collect all the 'bad' cards to get massive points. Its risky and fails a lot. Why do i bring this up? Let me excerpt from one of the articles:

But what about BSD?" I asked. Sontag responded that there "could be issues with the [BSD] settlement agreement," adding that Berkeley may not have lived up to all of its commitments under the settlement.
I wonder who he means by "Berkeley". The BSD settlement was with BSDI, now part of Wind River Systems and the NetBSD and the FreeBSD projects, the latter represented by Chris Demetriou and Jordan Hubbard respectively.
"So you want royalties from FreeBSD as well?" I asked.
Sontag responded that "there may or may not be issues. We believe that UNIX System V provided the basic building blocks for all subsequent computer operating systems, and that they all tend to be derived from UNIX System V (and therefore are claimed as SCO's intellectual property)."

Ok now that we have that out of the way. Please recall MacOS X is based on NeXT which in turn is derived from BSD (somewhere along the line). Perhap you recall who runs Apple computer these days. Steve Jobs, NeXT was his baby. If IBM doesn't grind SCO into a smooth paste Steveie certainly will.
As a friend put it "do not make Steve summon the dark lords of unix"
The reason to be afraid is this: If the government stories are to be believed that we face imminent 'cyber-terrorism', this is exactly the kind of under the radar thing that will lay the ground work. Lots of stealthly data collection with future plans to deploy.
Whats worse is that no one seemed to care. 'Oh if its not costing a company money who cares?' Well here is the rub. YOu notified the company and the FBI. The company may now be liable now as they didnt take serious actoin. as for the FBI.. well they are too busy tracking down democrats in texas. *rolls eyes*
The upside is that this/. story will likely make it to major news outlets. Watch people fall all over themselves denying responsibility then:)
Steve jobs releases internet death squads of robotic Richad Simmonses to expunge any trace of the screw up. In fact this post of is expected to be erased from history later today. Film at 11.
you mean kinda the same way that airline tickets drop when fuel prices drop? or the way phone services prices drop when govt. fees are removed? or perhaps you mean the way that cable tv prices dropped when they were deregulated and subject to 'free market' competition?/sarcasm/
Of all the qualities I look for in a politician "blessing from the Church" isnt one of them and since the govt is not designed as a religious ogranization it has no relavance. However, in the context of Utah the point is well taken.
He may not be at fault but as the 'leader' of his political presence, he is responsible. And since he is advocating vigilante 'justice' and seems to be will to throw out 'innocent until proven guilty' he of all people deserve the stiffest penalty. I'll tell you if that bill passes I bet you more than a new DMCA complaints are gonna be leveling against the govt. And those licenses that allow free personal and govt. use? Well they wont allow free govt. use anymore.
There was a thread a long time ago about how IE is suppoed to use some 'assumed open' connection thing to speed up page load times. I would wholly expect all of the servers running at ms*.* to support that.
NPR had an interview with a guy from Transgenic Pets, about allergy free cats. What was funny was that the interviewer asked the guy repeatedly what was the benefit to the animal and all he could say was that 'it didn't hurt the animal at all'
Mr Lyons does provide some interesting background, and while his warning to the 'religious' Linux users may be of value he's missing a couple of salient points.
Even though McBride has managed to get money out of MS does not mean he will get it out of IBM. Please recall that MS was found guilty of anti-trust violations, on the other hand, IBM managed to spend the DoJ into giving up their suit.
Also, again, this saga isn't over. SCO still has to show its evidence in court. And i have no doubt there will be a counter suit. In the discovery process SCO may need to put their code into the public record. Then we get to see if they have violated the GPL. Believe you me, the crapfest hasn't even started yet
I really feel bad for the employees. It takes a toll when you are working for a company who has become the spit of the industry. Not to mention the conseqences to their jobs and their stock value if SCO cant (ha!) beat IBM.
The thing that strikes me most about this article is not the fact that ebooks have gone no-where, but the reason why. As the one linked article states they were trying to lock everyone into their content only. Anyone with a clue could ahve told you this wasnt going to end well, unless you had the sun and the moon and the stars to offer.
However, I'm trying to look at the bigger picture here. In our recent memory there seem to be a bunch of really bad business ideas that some how make it thru the tedious corporate 'bad idea expeller'. Please recall 'divx' (caps not withstanding) the time limited psuedo-rental dvd scheme from Circuit City and a law firm. And now we have its successor, self-destructing media.
I have to ask myself have any of these clowns done any market research? How do they manage to ram thru these dumbass get rick quick schemes with no one noticing? I have to wonder what the pie charts look like at these meetings. 20% wont care what we do, 20% will be alienated, 30% arent customers anyway.. and so on. It feels like decisions made on the least negative instead of most positive.
You mean SCO's attacking of the Linux comminuty by sending out letter that might demand some kind of payment? Anyone who is actually a SCO customer should really consider moving on.
Better yet they will release a movie with 'unbreakable' encryption.. but its just full of static and white noise. Much like many movies already being shown:)

heh food over tcp.. hey scotty webfax me a boloney sandwich:)
I will attack SCO with my Blue eyes ultimate white dragon!

You mean SCO jumped into the GPL pool without their crack team of lawyers reading it first? Say it aint so.
Id like to officially recind my post about feeling bad for SCO employees. Anyone who still works there is a jackass.

sorry wires crossed there.
Because we all know it would be a strike on the instant replay. Just keep rewinding the tape:)

That sucking sound you hear is SCO.
And I was thinking that Linus was being held captive at the Apple Campus "1 infinite Loop"
On a similar note I call some wannabe script kiddie say "Im gonna gate you with my mad propz"

Ya know i could eat up years worth of mod points on SCO stories alone, and that would be moddin posts up alone.
This whoel thign is like watching a slow motion train wreck. you just cant turn away. (except those who have:)
I fully expect to be off topic, dont feel bad about doing it:)
