    Once I 'wetted' some zinc chips with hydrochloric acid in a closed matchbox. After some time I lit a match and held it close to the matchbox's edge.

    What happened after was more of a pop than an explosion but my ears rang for about ten minutes.

    Good thing I had put on my safety goggles before, otherwise I would't be reading Slashdot.

    You still have to inject 'something' in your bloodsteam, if not insulin, then anti rejection drugs...

    Drug for drug i'd still prefer to take insulin over anti rejection drugs; it has been tested and used for a long time and requires no surgical intervention.

    THROUGH the battery's plastic case!

    Oh come on give me a break... are they saying that the sticker operates on the battery's internal structure/chemistry through IMPERMEABLE PLASTIC?

    Maybe if the sticker was coated in nanotech enhanced snake oil that would have worked, but with ceramic it's a tough call.

    Once while I was drunk my best friend's bastard brother decided it was real fun to shine a laser pointer into my right eye....

    The results were the following:
    1) Complete blindness for more than a week
    2) Decreased dioptres (increased short sightedness) in the affected eye.

    Fortunately I did not suffer any significant/permanent retinal damage, however, my right eye is still slightly worse at focusing than my left one.
