The keyboard on the 12" PowerBook is actually slightly bigger then the 17" PowerBook.
The 12" PowerBook has the best keyboard I have ever used on a laptop (up there with the thinkpad keyboards). The only thing thats annoying is the lack of a Delete key and the size of the backspace key (its quite small)
That configuration may work on a desktop but imagine that on a laptop.
Go on, do it.
You'd be offsetting the laptop on your lap. Either that or position your hands in a very uncomfortable manner to reach the main keys on the left side of the laptop.
When you use a laptop on your laptop you often end up balancing it on your knees by putting your hands on it. With your hands mostly on the left side that won't work out too well, especially with a bohemoth 17" laptop that sticks off your lap.
A full size keyboard just wouldn't be comfortable.
I find the authors attitude towards people who don't use open source programs disgusting.
By now people hip to the open source concept use OpenOffice.org for everyday applications, yet MS Office is still the predominant application in the home and workplace.
I am hip to open source but I don't use open office. I don't like it.
Many educated people have still not heard of it. Why?"
This is just the kind of thinking we need. WE ARE SMARTER THAT IS WHY WE USE SUPERIOR SOFTWARE. IF YOU DO NOT USE IT YOU ARE NOT SMART OR EDUCATED.
Get a life buddy.
Provide everyone with a utilities cd that contains all the latest patches for the games you will be playing and maybe the latest nvidia and ATI drivers.
And if you're playing some free games, slap them on there too.
My school used Quark and kept OS 9 arround just for quark but when it came down to it they really wanted to move to OS X for next fall and they will. When they started planning it there was no word of Quark coming out of OS X so they've already bought Adobe inDesign licenses. Too late for Quark.
My guess is that the processor will only be announced. Not released.
Remember that this is a <b>developers</b> conference. He has to announce ahead of time and release SDKs so that companies can prepare to optimize their software for it so there will actually be products that take advantage of its new features and 64 bit addressing.
Why would there be an app that would require a processor that doesn't exist? Someone has to create that processor before apps expect people to have it.
The average consumer doesn't need anything about 1 ghz but people (and professionals) who want to play cutting edge games, do some 3d modeling, video editing will love this.
I use them quite often at home and at work when punching in numbers or doing calculations.
The best extra key on a keyboard ever is the Calculator shortcut key.
It's a god send!

Shit, that 3.2 ponds could be a second laptop.
Hmmm iSight is a piece of HARDWARE and Msn messenger 6 is SOFTWARE. They're comparing the SOFTWARE MSN 6 and ICHAT.
They are not comparing the quality of the iSigh vs. Msn messenger.
I wonder if Canadian carriers will adopt a similar policy in the near future?
I hate having to stick with one carrier, their shitty plans and their crummy phones because I don't want to change phone numbers.
I'd also like to see companies let you bring over your old phone from a different carrier.
Down with restrictions!
Everytime I see a posting here about a website I crash it with my mind.
Will power baby.
Works everytime!
FreeCraft did not only have a similar name, but similar gameplay, ui, units, etc.
It was trying to be an exact clone of warcraft. You could even play it with the WarCraft graphics.
It you replaced the graphics with the WarCraft ones it was the same game.
I can understand why Blizzard or Vivendi would be upset.
Anyhow it just shows how unimaginative FreeCraft was.
Its a pain to cut a huge watermelon in quarters and then store the quarters just for a slice or two.
This is much more convenient.
Trillian is ok, it does messaging pretty well but I can't get any of the other features like Yahoo! webcams, or MSN file transfers to work on it.
Umm... if its happening with the G4 PowerMacs why wouldn't it happen with the G5s?
Maybe we're not seeing these games released in North America due to car manufacturer licensing?
So the one dentist out of five who didn't recommend Crest Toothpaste is the right one?

perhaps this is a good opportunity for cell phone blocking material to be used in the passenger part of planes?
I remmeber reading about this about a year ago, some theaters were thinking about using it.
I think this author might own some sony shares.

Ever heard of exclusivity?
Microsoft never expected to make a profit off the first generation of their console.
They are willing to sell it below cost in order to get a strangle hold on the market in the future.
and finally someone has done it
I guess the softwave I've been using for the past few years came through a time portal!! Music Match has had this feature for a long time.

Explain to me why anybody would need XML documents?
Isn't the entire point of XML to share content/data and not appearances?
I can see XML data being useful for spreadsheets, config files, etc. But why documents?
If you really need a cross platform document make a pdf. Not a word document.
I am not trying to troll here, just want to know the benefits of XML documents.
At first I thought microsoft was just trying to cash into IT managers obsessions with new buzz words but now I am second guessing that.
Every kid knows its easier to deliver a flaming bag of poop then delivering a fart.
