  1. I don't think so on Could Doom 3 be a Xbox Exclusive? · · Score: 1, Insightful

ID makes most (see: insane ammounts) of their money from licensing their engine for other games. There is no way in hell they are going to make it an xbox only engine. And even if they released the engine on other platforms they need Doom 3 as the benchmark for what it can do.

Doom 3 _will_ come out for the PC.

The writer falls into the trap that most do, assuming Windows is THE perfect operating system. And, it's not, there are just as many faults in installation as there are in Linux.

See thats the thing. XP is far from being perfect. But after experiencing Linux to many people it makes Windows XP look perfect compared to it.

Theres either two things that can happen when you show someone linux: 1) If they are hardcore geeks they might like it (I am a geek and I hate it, as do most people I know) 2) They will see it and go back XP loving it more then ever before. Do you see the problem? I do.

What we need to do is send an orbiter to take pictures of the surface to find the most likely spot for organic materials (maybe a place where water from undernearth the surface has escaped rescently?) and sent a craft there to investigate.

People used to go the arcades because the arcade games were so much better than the consoles. Now you go to the arcade and you see games that don't look good as what you just saw on your PC at home.

Arcades are a in a huge box yet the only have a little board in there with a big TV. Make use of that space, put a quad processor in there if you have to, put the latest in graphics technology, a GeForceFX or a R9700.

Arcades are supposed to show us what can one day be in our living rooms, not the other way arround. Its like going to the worlds fair to see a product you already have.

  14. Re:Wireless on CollegeLinux Released to the Public · · Score: 1

Perhaps for you but I have tried all of the major distros and none of them have worked for my Wi-Fi card.

I once got Redhat 8 to work with it, but after I rebooted it didn't work anymore.

I once got RedHat 7.2 to work with it (for good) and then I upgraded to 8. I tried to duplicate this elsewhere and it did not work.

    Its very inconsistent.

I've never gotten mandrake to see any wireless cards on any of my computers.

The only computers that did manage to get working (with redhat 7.2) are laptops.

If Linux Distros want to keep up with other real operating systems they should realize how popular wi-fi is now and make it as easy as Windows XP or OS X to setup. This would be a good opportunity to show up Windows XP because it works, but it could be a whole lot better.

Giving it a nudge while its still years away its more likely to affect its path near Earth then it is to hit it a bit when its right near us.
