right... and drug smuggling routes around government bans- that doesn't mean there aren't serious (and seriously unjust) consequences for getting caught
There was a woman just recently awarded [yahoo.com] $45,000 because her cat was killed by a dog. What the hell is going on here ? Dogs kill cats. It's a shame. Get over it
Did you read the article? The dog's owner broke animal control laws by failing to properly contain his pet and it broke through a fence and killed the cat. And the owner is donating the money to animal welfare groups -no greed there.
So can we do this with radioactive waste from nuclear power plants/medical industry? Why not have a big bank of these generating more power instead of just burying our radioactive waste in a mountain?
Was I the only one who was completely underwhelmed by the 30 minute commercial with commercials? Every new generation of consoles prior to this has been a big leap forward from the previous one. There was hardly any in-game footage shown, but what I saw looked more evolutionary than revolutionary. What did Perfect Dark Zero have that you can't get on Halo 2 with the HD cables for the Xbox? "Fully destructable objects"? (did anyone else catch that? wtf?)
I have a feeling that Microsoft has screwed up pretty bad with this not being backward compatible- unless they're going to have dual-sytem games, it's going to split their userbase and the developers will not know which unit to design for. People were still releasing games for the PS1 long after the PS2 came out, but they could get away with it because the PS2 was backward compatible.
Just about the only measure one can use is "how many times is the article cited, and by who [important because a group may be citing their own articles again and again]".
Why does it matter what the carriers think of it? Isn't this why we have GPRS and SIM chips? I use a T-mobile phone with AT&T wireless/Cingular service, and AT&T/Cingular is none the wiser. Why couldn't Apple just release the phone by themselves and let people put their own SIM chips in them? When the phone carriers see people clamoring for the phones (as they inevitably will be), they'll probably change their minds about selling them themselves...
awesome... some of the films we watched had stories about that kind of stuff, but none of them showed it. certainly would have made driver's ed a lot more interesting, if only out of morbid curiosity...
oh! we had those! It was really ghetto- They called it the "simulator" - it was in a temporary shack beside the school. A screen at one end, an aisle down the middle, and on either side a row of car seats with little fake dashboards in front of them, complete with steering wheels, pedals, and column mounted turn signals and shifters. They projected these really shitty movies from the 70's (this was in 1996) on the screen, and you could basically do what you wanted with the wheel/brakes/whatever, because they didn't do anything. Talk about a waste of time...
it looks like it may be opening up some soon. anyway, not everything has to be Free- do you complain because you can't get the specs on your microwave's processor?
there are lots of things that could benefit from the size difference between using SD cards and a CF card. The space saved can be used for other things. In a PDA, the size of a CF card slot can be a good portion of the entire device.
Compal Electronics recently received an order for a Dell 14.1-inch widescreen notebook for 2006, which will have shipments of about 300,000 units per month, the sources said. Compal also received an order for Dell's first-ever 19-inch widescreen model, which will be launched in 2006, the sources added.
...and that looks like it was taken from some sort of report or press release. And you are, hearing it fourth-hand. Looks to me like a typo, and that they probably meant 17". Don't you think they'd say "the first ever 19-inch widescreen model" and maybe mention something about how enormous that is, instead of merely saying "Dell's first ever 19-inch widescreen model"?
none of them are particularly open. xD even less so. To me, SD seems the best balance of size and features, CF being still too large for some applications.
that's okay with me, as long as they keep making new media the same form factor so that (at least theoretically) one drive can read them all. much better than being something completely new and requiring another drive bay.
now if manufacturers can only decide on a flash memory format (SD, please!...and maybe make CF the new CARDBUS or something...)
Okay, just realized that link doesn't work- that's really annoying that the links are temporary and there's no way to link to an item in the text. I can understand the use of legalese being a necessity, but they seriously need some usability work on the site.
Anyway, let's try that again go here and find the section that says "[Struck out->] SEC. 102. WAIVER OF LAWS NECESSARY FOR IMPROVEMENT OF BARRIERS AT BORDERS. [-Struck out]"
See Sec. 102 of Version 5, the final PP (Public Print) version of the bill.
and yes, they are horribly unreadable, but that's legalese. It's necessary in order for it to be specific and in order for the legislators to address specific sections when debating them. One could say the same thing about IEEE RFC's, right?
But I heard that the bill states that "no court shall have jurisdiction to hear any cause or claim arising from any action undertaken, or any decision made, by the Secretary of Homeland Security, or order compensatory, declaratory, injunctive, equitable, or any other relief for damage alleged to arise from any such action or decision."
I'm sure Mr. Obama will take your complaints very seriously, considering you've referenced a part of the bill that was struck out of the final piece of legislation...
drool... say what you want about windows mobile, but i don't see any other devices with other operating systems that can do what windows mobile does. sure, there's plenty of room for improvement- it seems i have to reboot my ipaq 6315 every day or two, but no other device does as much as it can...
and all the comments mentioning the stupidity of the.msi link didn't make us not morons? everyone agrees the editors suck, but i think it's safe to say most of us don't come here for the quality articles. most of us don't even read them! we're here for the discussion.
anyway, don't let the door hit you on the way out!

yeah, stimulation overload is right- i don't think three seconds went by in the entire show without a cut. talk about headache-inducing...

you can get all the details at serenity.com.
:)
no kidding- i was thinking the exact same thing! it looks almost exactly like an optiplex gx270...

Here's hoping it's an abysmal flop.

sounds more like a proclamation. i don't think we'd want to get in a war in nepal. the terrain there would make afghanistan look easy.
maybe they'll offer CIA aid the counter-insurgency, provided the king takes some steps toward democracy, or something.

i use pocket excel to keep track of my fill-ups and mileage in the car. it's handy for stuff like that, but i don't know if that constitutes real work
it'd probably be a lot easier and achieve a lot better results to just use a camera behind one-way mirror setup similar to a teleprompter
