I have used this on multiple occasions and have always found the results to be beneficial. Sometimes there is just nothing they can do, but they will explain exactly what they find to be the cause if they can and that knowledge, alone, is comforting. Regarding "drops" on freeways though, they often can resolve these with tower configuration changes if they are brought foreward.
So instead of having a conventinal series of small explosives to blast apart the rocket and disperse the payload when and where the attackers want it, it is designed to break apart when hit by a giant laser?
Ok, this must have been my fault as a few people have misunderstood my post. My example scenario involved a military presence targetted with a conventional missile/artillery which was equipped with chem/bio agents. The attackers intention was for the missle/artillery shell to detonate on impact when hitting the military presence. Neither side intended to harm the civilian presence in between the two sides. The laser prematurely detonates the missile in the air releasing airborne toxins over the CIVILIAN area.
The point was that the defense of the military position (which are more often in amidst civilians these days) could cause higher collateral damage when chem/bio weapons were involved.
as opposed to the missile hitting it's target and releasing the chem/bio payload anyways?
You seem to have either not read the post or entirely missed the point. The point was that in protecting themselve (the military) they could unwittingly cause worse effects to civilian interests. Note that we seem to be fighting more these days in and amongst civilians rather than out in an open barren battlefield.
So picture this...
Ground forces are stationed outside a small city (to protect the civilians). An incoming missile is detected and they shoot it down as it approaches with the laser. Unfortunately, the missile was a delivery system for chem/bio material and they just caused it to be release in the air above a populated city.
That'll make a good press release! But at least the troops were safe.
Even those of in the USA aren't happy with our government's decisions. No wonder we buy things made in China. China's government must be doing things that those in the US like. Otherwise, we wouldn't support their economy for moral reasons.
LOL... right... As soon as I read you comment, I picked up the calculator by my computer on my office desk. It is fancy, and came in a nice wooden frame with my company's name, logo and URL on it. I didn't buy it. Both pieces (calc and frame) were Made in China.
But I'm SURE that someone in marketing took all of their moral considerations into account when making this purchase... right....
Again, it may be hard for a westerner (for Indians, the term implies not only Americans, but Europeans as well) to believe this, but there are parts of the country that are either very inaccessible, or poorly developed or both.
I can believe it... What do they do about security? And I assume those machines must be pretty ruggedized... you wouldn't want to collect all of those votes and then have a bad storm kill the machine.
And if the elections go off without a hitch then all the Slashdot whiners will apologize to Diebold and other electronic voting machine makers right?
How would you know? If a manipulation of the elections goes off without a hitch will you apologize? Oh wait, if it went off without a hitch in an electronic system, there's no record. Nevermind.
Well for one thing we could practice equal treatment versus just preaching it.
There's a country in the Middle East that is known to possess weapons of mass destruction. It's people can only be citizens and vote if they belong to a single religion. They routinely persecute the minority population and carry out illegal violent crimes against them. Their leader openly advocates the assassination of the leadership of opposing organizations. These actions have and will continue to escalate the violence in the country causing the deaths of many innocent people on both sides. This leader's actions are also causing a de-stabilization of the Middle East region.
Now, if this were an arabic country we would be sanctioning or even invading. But since it is Israel, we are exercising our veto power in the UN Security Council to PREVENT a condemnation of the assassination.
This double standard is only one part of why so many in the arabic world hate us.
9/11 would not be stopped by making the world liek us. There will always be soemoen who hates us. Bin Laden would hate us no matter what we did.
I must disagree. Bin Laden did not conduct 9/11 by himself. You are right, someone almost always hates everyone. So why is the US the target of these attacks? Because LOTS of people hate us. Many people hate us enough to devote their lives to our destruction. Even more people hate us just enough to give money to the devotees.
Terrorist networks are not "a few people hate us" movements, they are well-organized, established, well-funded and often supported officially or unofficially by foreign governments. This is not a case of "the guy down the street doesn't like me".
Most of the time, the people complaining would just like the game to be changed in some way, and these feelings are usually shared by the majority.
I'm sure many ppl on here have been involved in multiplayer worlds of some sort. I am a wizard on a classic LP-MUD. Often times the "majority" of the players do want the same things. However, there are often reasons why those things would be bad for the game and/or game company.
For instance, I'd bet most players in the Sims would like for their jobs to pay more money. If you just let them all vote themselves a raise, that would probably pass. However, you would also have devalued the currency and decreased the game's difficulty and therefore challenge.
I don't know if this holds true for many others out there, but my friends and I believe that by buying these multiple versions we are also "voting with our wallet"... Not only will we get enjoyment out of watching the standard DVD until the EE comes out, but New Line (and other studios) will see the revenue that comes in when they produce high-quality films of this genre. PJ's rep will be boosted as will the actors', etc.
The/. community has often talked about "voting with the wallet" by not buying things -- but the opposite also holds true.
If you come home late TiVO's new iSpouse product will save your dinner in small plastic containers. This can then be re-heated and eaten at any time! Of course storage capacity (FridgeXT) limits the total amount of meals you can shift in this fashion.
My word processor has both a dictionary and a thesaurus, as well as spell checking, but apparently yours doesn't.
Do you really type all of your slashdot comments in via a word processor, or type them into a WP and run a spell check before every post? If so, I admire your dedication to the integrity of proper language...
Nope, couldn't get there. I came out with a $70 plan that came close but you had to trade your unlimited SMS for free LD and limit the Direct Connect to 500 min. Getting to the same features took at least $90 by my estimation... a bit less if you work for the government or one of our enterprise accounts, but still not close enough.
Thanks for the challenge though, I did forward it to our market analysis group. Amazing that our industry makes any money sometimes... Of course, Sprint PCS is still losing money ($322 million in Q4 2003) so I guess it isn't entirely sustainable.
I guess "real soon now" should have read "9 days"?
My guess is that as these folks provide dedicated hosting for companies concered about DDOS attacks, the web sites they host probably don't like to be offline for a few hours much less 9 days. So 9 days is a VERY long time. I would bet they will lose some clients over this, regardless of whose "fault" it was.
People won't vote third party, they only vote for the current reigning Demopublican party.
This is partially true, but I think 3rd party supporters believe there is a lot more support for that 3rd party than there really is. I have voted Libertarian, Reform and considered Green. In every case there were things I also did NOT like about their positions, just like with the democrat and republican parties.
The democrats and republicans use rhetoric to convince the less intelligent that there's actually a difference between the two...
Oh please!!!! I hate to make a personal observation, but that statement really makes you sound full of yourself. Are you really more intelligent than all of America that voted for the two major parties? But I digress
Let's look at your argument. According to U.S. Census data on voter registration and voting the percentages of the American public voting are much higher (70-75% vs. 30-50%) for folks with college and/or advanced degrees than those with some HS or only a HS diploma. It's not like the least intelligent people in America are even voting. 60-70% of those who actually voted have at least an associates degree or some college. 30% have at least a bachelor's degree.
I think that is an absolutely terrible idea as stated. It would need major revisions to be of any merit. The author mentions "lack of experience" as a factor and says that most "politicians" are not experts on the issues they deal with anyway. However, what about lack of EDUCATION? I do not want a severely undereducated person deciding what is in the best interest of the country. What about apathy? Have you ever SERVED jury duty? At least a quarter of the people who actually show up don't want to be there and will do/say almost anything to get out of serving. So you want to draft someone to serve as a political representative? What if you get someone who doesn't care and just wants to do the easiest thing to complete their service so that they can go home?
People complain about poiticians, but most people who complain are not interested in doing the job themselves. Forcing them to do it wouldn't improve the situation.
Has anyone done an accurate looking First Person Shooter version of the map?

There's no crime for bad puns yet... Talk to your folks in DC!
You are still leaving out HUGE MAJOR releases for Microsoft!!!!

The
iPod -> iTunes -> Powerbook
I think this is a great customer acquisition strategy.
