  1. I'm surprised at people still using Vista. Not XP though. I remember Vista was hated and considered garbage in general by most people I saw/heard talk about it. When Vista was out everyone said stay on XP. When 7 was out... it was stay on XP or get 7. Maybe move back from 7 to XP. Same thing for 8, griping about the dumb new look aside.

Don't think I heard as much about XP when 10 came out.... But it always felt like Vista was the one everyone said never get on no matter what, or to flee it if you made the mistake of getting on it.

I only recall ME being more hated.

I remember getting on GOG just for much older games. It always confused me when I saw the brand new ones on there, as I always thought of it as "That place I can play some old games." Especially when Witcher III came out and just had a gigantic ad across the whole store.

  5. Gas stations and repair shops will either switch or go out of business

Gas stations could probably still do well off of all the people who stupidly spend $20+ on overpriced convenience store items every single day. Having worked in a bank and able to see account histories.... I'm shocked at how often (as in multiple times a day) people will go into the gas station convenience stores and spend $5-20 then complain that they have no money.

My favorite recent example of this was in Charlotte, NC where we were told we were getting the next Hugo (and it'd be worse!111). People were buying out every generator within 100 miles, every store in and around the city was out of water, etc.... And then the hurricane missed Charlotte by 200-300 miles?

  7. Didn't we just have an article on here 2-3 weeks ago about this, but with even worse sounding info? I seem to recall it saying that the job openings would literally say they only wanted men. And other things like "We need pretty women in the office that men can look at," or whatever.

And I believe this part was a comment rather than part of the article, but I remember it stating something about women pretending to be men to get IT jobs.

  8. I get both of those on my Smart TV. List placement and order within the lists randomly change almost daily. Then a show I'll watch 5 minutes of will show in my continue watching for half a year.... And then a show I've watched 40 episodes of will vanish from the list within 2 weeks. Netflix doesn't seem to know which show I'd rather continue watching.

    3.7 billion deaths from cats

There used to be this psychopath lady in the neighborhood I grew up in. She loved birds, therefor she hated cats.

Can anyone guess what she decided to do to solve the problem?

    .....

She set traps in her yard and house to catch cats with canned catfood. Then she took the cats to the vet/animal control/whatever. And she would have them put to sleep. By the time she was caught and figured out, she'd had something around a hundred cats killed. This included cats that were pets of her neighbors. She'd just sign and say she owned the cat and then have it put down.

I wondered why Strava was being weird. It no longer showed the majority of my friends' runs, just my workouts. I thought everyone had stopped running, as I end up seeing only my workouts. At first I thought I was on the "Your activities" tab and double and triple checked it.... but apparently Strava just wanted to show all of my workouts for the past 2 weeks instead of my friends' runs from the past 1-2 days.

They screwed up subs for some reason, then added that bell notification.... and now apparently (I've never bothered with it) that bell has the option of "tell me always" and "tell me sometimes." But even then apparently "tell me always" doesn't always work??? I don't think YouTube knows what "subscribe" means anymore. Or my other favorite is their algorithm for related videos. A guy who tries to cover news stuff was discussing gun control debates, and all the related videos were apparently children's nursery cartoons???

I guess to be fair, I did see a hit and run in my first year of college. Illegal Mexican guy who was drunk was driving on the wrong side of the road and hit a car of 4 college kids. They caught him because he tried to start a fight at the nearby gas station trying to buy more alcohol.

So what... someone's car hits someone and runs, and they just assume that person is hiding an illegal if they are a foreigner?

My first thought when I saw this was how terrible the NCDOT is with roads. I live in Charlotte. I485 goes around the city and took over 40 years to complete. Heck, even just finishing the North Eastern..... maybe 1/5 of the road? Took them 3 years of nothing, 1-2 years of work, and then they had to get help from a private company to finish it because they ran out of money and only finished it due to a contract for future work.
