Yup so thats why its more intelligent to not to use Si, intel has been an advocate of germanium... but this article is ...?

But the thing to watch out for would be to see what they use for noise isolation, TI is a big and old player in mixed signal and noise is a bitch for analog when Digital buffers are toggling so fast, so isolation is important.. lets see what intel does!

So "good guys" will not really know what they missed and finding something goodies missed will be randomly possible... now all the random theory shit i cant put here, but the biggest challenge in quantum crypto is mapping the coverage, a lot of loopholes can be left of everything is uncertain.... and our knowledge of quantum mechs is still infantile.

The biggest problem with current processors is that to design such devices we *have* to use dynamic logic. Ask any VLSI design engineer.. that is no joke. Infact many multipliers and dividers have to be hand edited! So delays are expected and it does reflect upon the desigers and companiesd in any way.

Before you ask.. I do now work for AMD, i work in another VLSI company, thats why i say.. its tough. Millions of gates thousands to be hand edited its a bitch.. but as they say the fruits of labour are sweet... and for AMD hammer is going to be the sweetest

not exactly. Consider the amount of calories burnt by human body. Lets say the efficency of the system is even 20%. Now we did such a thing as a school project. We lit a 100 W bulb. At leasurly pace pedaling we were able to generate 100 Watts., Now we had cheap local heavy equipment and efficeny must have been 5-10 % Safely we can assume with modern gearing and stuff you can generate 400 W easily. So cycling leasurly for half an hour will give you an hour of backup and having wheels under your table and doing it leasurly can provide just enough power for constant use! (200 Watts). So this is not really unfeasible.

In developing countries of you get people to pedal 10 hours a day. Lets say 2 ppl working you can get 400W * 10 hours = 4KwH of energy... guess the cost, well about 8 dollars!
Of course this is much higher than electrical power this can be real useful for reseach installations in remote areas.

It may be argued that hiring people to do it is inhuman, but the fact is that in developing countries, including my own ie india, human powered transport vehicals are still in existance and source of livelyhood of many people. So this wont really start any new trend in exploitation.

Slowly things will go to optimum levels. We humans are not digital circuit, it takes time.
Many feel that ciivil liberties are being jepordized and many feel that the laws allow too much. To be honest the laws allow a bit too much. So now swing will be the other way, no more privacy, big brother watching and all that, and then the pendulum will start swinging the other way again.
Actually the civillizations which reduce the amplitude of swinging pendulum survive longest, others wither away or are replaced by something else.
Currently everybody is at crossroads, unsure... they had the first amendment, freedoms etc., and the tragedies happened, no all these will be curbed to some extent. In fact it is very necessary to change things from within. Someday america will find the in between point, but then transition is always painful isnt it.
