....to run SNES games also (atleast that was my understanding..) I don't see why they don't come out with the Mario All Stars pack for GBA, that way you get a lot more for the buck..;)
I've been happy with my GBA, kinda reminds me of my old NeoGeo Pocket Color.. It is interesting seeing sega games on it, thats for sure, I remember the rival thoes two had back in the SNES/Genesis days..;)
It'd be nice to see a lot of SNES games ported over tho, like Bust a Move (Bubble bobble), Super Mario World, etc..
I wonder, I bet they have to pay licensing fees to enable that flag on their dvd.. if x amount of dvd players have that flag ignored, then why bother? you'll run into the same amount of issues.. I could be wrong tho
thats nothing really, I've seen demo's run 100mb or larger (wasn't Return to Castle Wolfenstien this big?), how about tones of people with WindowsXP, a full update today can run around 50MB.. what about people who goto hollywood.com and watch the trailers, or the ones who do a lot of open source work, or download a lot of distros (@650mb or so per cd)..
as many illegitiment reasons there are for high-bandwidth users, there are just as many legitiment. I'm sure there are a lot of mom/pop internet users that found high-bandwidth sites and may use just a little over what caps would be put in place..
If they really wanna make more money, they should apply this ideal to upstream only.. upload a lot == payfor it.. upstreams are slow enuff, but as much as I hate to admit it, a lot of p2p network people use just as much upstream as downstream..
"Film88 is at least the second Internet video-on-demand site to spring up in recent months. The MPA in February worked with the Taiwanese authorities and its hosted ISP to get rid of Movie88.com, which also streamed feature films to consumer desktops for $1 each. This year the association, which represents seven major Hollywood studios, has sent 40,000 letters to ISPs hosting what it deems rogue operators, compared with 50,000 letters for all of last year."
just something I found amusing, isn't film88 owned by the same people that ran movie88 the first time? do they even double check their stories?
Its still up after 5 posts (damn musta opened IE right when this was posted).. Not too supprised LotR won best movie tho;)
usually (atleast in thought) a lot of webmasters do the data ahead of time, but it auto-posts after everythings played (this is what MTV did for their last Video music awards, or so I read)
I think after they noticed the amount of hits from slashdot, they prolly just gave up and left it there!;)
"My company used to run IIS. When we got hit with Nimda, I noticed that 'CMD.exe' was getting called a lot. What'd I do? I renamed CMD.exe and replaced it with Calc.exe. I had originally intended to write my own VB App that'd notify me if it was ever ran. Never got around to it, though. Essentially, I hid a commonly known function of WinNT. Anybody breaking into the system would have to figure out what I did since it's no longer the same type of server other people run."
Kinda like what I've done on a few firewalls, I've even found programs that will report back the wrong OS when using something like nmap or other OS scanners.. (shoulda seen it, an old firewall I worked on was nothing but a 2k machine with Firewall-1, when doing an nmap -O on it, came up as an SCOUNIX box) I lost it in a hd crash not long ago, I think it was something sysintervals made, but dun remember..
I say when it comes right down to it, use as many methods as possiable to hide/patch possiable exploits.. I'm sure the right person could prolly come around and hackit, but atleast it'll stop the worms/skript kiddies and intermeidate hackers.. (atleast hopefully;)
I use a toshiba satellite 3000, has a 1ghz P4m with the GeForce2 go, its nice, plays games really well but you do run into some issues, ie in Unreal Tournament, your char gets "stuck" kinda like if your lagging and your char gets stuck in a wall, but this even happends with single player, etc.. I say a laptop is good for mabey some langaming, definatly good for traveling, etc.. but not for, let say playing Unreal Tournament over the internet..;)
on a second note, i never did notice the blur, mabey my screen doesn't have it, with better pixel refresh, or I just didn't notice it..
Do this a few times, and M$ will prolly start requiring you to buy their software.. I can see it now.. "By breaking this seal and opening ths package, you agree to buy x amount of games in y amount of time."
Seriously tho, They recently dropped the price to $199, it'll be interesting to see if they knock it down a few notches.. However I don't think they are going to drop it too low, they didn't get this rich by throwing money at everything and incuring losses..
(they did it by making it look like they threw money at everyone;)
Final Doom was more (if I understand correctly) a complation of levels and a mod of some of the mods out there.. also there was engine (minor, I know) changes between doom and doom2, final doom was basically doom2 with some new wads.. it was badly put toghter at that.. atleast in my opinion
Aside from pointing out the obvious (NiN music was in quake, not doom, and I could tell that u ment quake)..
I loved playing quake, when I got the demo of Quake, it was right when BBS' were starting to loose their userbase, but still had the many dedicated sysops and users.. I'd play the hell outta it with some fellow sysops via modem, kickin ass, finding mods via the internet (which was limited at the time, atleast compared to today) and kickin ass with the sticky bombs and all the goodies..
Even to this day, quake hasn't lost its feel, I even fire it up from time to time on an old laptop that I know will run it, (currently running my car mp3 player.. I know I know, I'm a theif or copyright violator.. blah blah..) and just blow a few monsters/dogs/enforcers away;)
I still say it'll be interesting when DOOM III will come out, I remember reading in the beta groups in fidonet that Quake was actually suppose to be Doom III (look at the story line and some of the similiarties..) anyways, I'm outta here.. good to have a trip down memory lane;)
I don't own a PVR but I do own a remote... Guess they are going to fix your remote so you eventually can't change the channel during a commerical, only during actual programming..
Seriously tho, many VCRs skip commercials, granted they arn't as useful or as easy as PVRs, but under his thought, arn't they still illegal? Why doesn't he go after them also!?
Just an observation, notice they wanna stamp out fair use, but definatly want free speech to reign? check the "Freedom of speach" link on their site:
Harmful to Minors: Such laws seek to change Supreme Court standards for materials that are denied to children by lumping certain sound recordings into the "harmful to minors" category. This step makes it easier to ban sales to minors of certain objectionable material.
The RIAA is currently, or has recently, engaged in fighting these "harmful to minors" proposals in Washington, Florida, New York, Michigan, Georgia, Tennessee, North Dakota, and Wisconsin, and on the federal level in the House and Senate.
ellimate fair use & promote free speech = more $$$
Now what about the non-porn/warez uses.. I hardly consider open-source stuff as warez (linux distros for example...) which I tend to download not a lot, but prolly a lot more then TW would like. but not just that.. Voice Communcation, downloading mods to games (ie.. halflife mods), going to sites like deviantart.com, hell, even RoadRunners own site (atleast in my area, http://cfl.rr.com) has tones of media content, from streaming games to movies to music. If they promote it, they should be able to support it!
Granted my bandwidth doesn't come near the porn/warez kiddies out there, however it does tend to jump when I'm viewing multimedia content, or even playing a game while downloading, blah blah blah.. I'm sure my bandwidth does hang over the "standard user" bandwidth a lot.. I wonder what the cap is, before they charge for additional bandwidth..
If its resonable, I wouldn't bitch.. (ie.. few cents per hundred megs or something) but I doubt it.. they never go "reasonable"
And yes, slashdot does need a spell checker, cause I'm too lazy (or busy..) damnit..;)
Infact, a CD-ADDON was in production, but (if I'm not mistaken) nintendo decided to say no, and sony went on their way to create the PSX. Do a search on google for "Nintendo History" pretty interesting stuff.:)
ack, well atleast it wasn't commented "troll" but it does represent some of the mentallity of this junk. If he wanted all p2ps shut down, he would have aimed his search twords them and not p2p and the web... course I could be totally wrong..
Well down one karma point.. anyone got any extra points to donate?:) (j/k)

gotta love it..
I'm not a pureborne linux nut, but hell, I think the world would be a better place, atleast without AOL ;))
Ahhh, ok.. so if they actually made a contribution with the stolen CC#s, then this prolly wouldn't have been posted on CNN ;)
Bah, I think just script kiddie told one of the cnn guys in a chat room 'j00 ar3 jUs7 s0m3 l4m3r" and he took it too personally ;)

or you could always disable voice reconition, just incase you use the mike for something else ;)

couldn't help it ;)
don't forget tho, even the WPA has been cracked.
