well what did they expect? they let in a car with a deathstar-like thing on the roof. don't you think the gate guards would have asked what the heck that was? oh i don't know it could have been a camera, laser beam, bomb whatever... maybe they used the force. "move along."
I agree that it's always cool underground (in the 50s F range) however a problem they might run into is the humidity. Depending on the cave/mine the air can be quite humid and could pose a problem for the machinery. Seems like a tough thing space to "air condition" the water content.
i totally agree. the only downfall is the waste of paper. compare that to the power requirements for totally electronic voting and it's probably a wash.
in the future, we'll all be able to vote online somehow.
I agree! What a great way to keep these folks connected with their friends and family. It makes perfect sense that people would grab a laptop (among other things) when leaving their home. My laptop is where I have all of my photos, music, etc....and what better way to stay connected to family than with video chat or IM. I say bravo bunker organizers.
what about bean? seems like a pretty good word substitute to me. granted openoffice has many more features.
iWork is also pretty good, and $79 isn't too hard on the wallet.
don't you think that if computers booted in 1-2 seconds, people would be more likely to turn them off when not in use? odds are, if your computer takes more than a minute or so to boot you won't turn it off say over lunch or during breaks. think of all the energy we could save? for the energy conscious out there, you could start by turning monitors off when not in use.
it appears that some, including samsung do care and are looking to the future of speeding up boot times.
personally, i think this is a fantastic idea. i really love the fact that my powerbook can go from sleep mode to on in under a second. however this takes quite a bit of battery power to accomplish. wouldn't it be much better if they wrote out the memory to flash when the lid closes? then instead of sleeping, you'd be able to shut down and re start very quickly.
it seems like it's pretty tough to get a job in tech without having some experience. it's also tough to get some experience without getting a job. my advice? really learn all you can about web development and put together a website with things you are working on. if you have a slick site with personal projects, companies will see your ambition and will be impressed. unfortunately it won't pay the bills... but best buy will;)
i agree! even if i wanted to purchase a different player, i am very locked into the iTunes music store and fairplay. i'm suprised none has brought a suit against them for this yet...
i simply cannot wait to see this phone! i have been waiting for so long for the phone companies to quit farting around. adding unnecessary features is not a way to make a phone better. improving the things essential to a mobile phone (battery life, reception, speaker volume) definately are. i certainly hope that motorola has hit this one on the head with a sexy phone that has an incredible battery life with unparalleled reception. if they're only aiming at the low end market with such a phone they're either missing their market or they've designed a crummy phone.
i hate to say it... but apple may be cutting their own throats here if this change goes through. you know the old saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." however as the current masters of electronic aesthetic design, i'm sure they have many many intelligent people working on this.
this is in no way the end of e-mail... more like the first sign of a pending evolution. we're so tied to e-mail and instant communication, that the world requires e-mail, and i'm sure a much more secure e-mail protocol will be coming out in the near future. as soon as sendmail/postfix adopt such an advancement, spammers around the world will be looking for another line of work.
i know i wouldn't mind paying my registrar a bit more each year to register my domain as a legitimate mail service...
if they make the trackball one for xbox (i see the joystick one is...) i'd buy that in a heartbeat. it'd be great for tiger woods golf... the single and dual joystick... i dunno, they just seem like they're for kiddies... but perhaps i'm wrong... i could see how gamers would like them for fighting games...
they should put these two guys head to head on prime time tv. after a (much heated, i'm sure) debate, the public could act. call 1-800-555-SPAM and vote... i'm thinking it'd be 50,000,000 SpamCop, 2 spammer...
i'm sure microsoft wants to expand this lineup for the xbox2. but hey, if you have the best product out there, and the best game developers are making the best games for your system... you've got to be doing something right.
i'm not sure how preventing pop-up ads on their website, and the use of their name/trademark on spyware has anything to do with the release of controversial information. do you have any allegations to release about ll bean? imho, there is a very, very large difference here.

you'd think scientists from over 60 countries could get more than a couple balloons to fly, even in antarctica.
did anyone else happen to notice the insanely long URL for the linked site? http://thelongestlistofthelongeststuffatthelongestdomainnameatlonglast.com/ that has to be a record of some sort...

if you don't want me to see your laundry, don't hang it out on the line.

...and here i thought the future of vision was a gold-plated bananaclip visor.

i only seem to get phone calls from the police department asking for money. now that's scary...
it's too bad their all-star oil drilling team didn't quite make it in time...

once apple decides to open itunes out to the european market, will anyone be able to compete with that?

...or just spending a ton of cash...
ahh i see... well in that case we should be sending our letters to apple...

i'm glad to hear that there are companies out there who are against acosting their customers with guerilla-advertising. i tip my hat...
