Incorrect. MGS II, GTA III, and a ton of other good games are all coming out for the PS2 exclusively. (I would get them if I had a PS2)

Sony vs Modchips
·
· Score: -1, Troll
So you're saying it would be better to support microsoft's evil empire by buying their console and games, which happens to be a watered down PC, complete with crashes (and, luckily for microsoft, no linux...yet)?...(Just posted, must wait two minutes)...
Sony loses money on every console they sell, so each one is a gamble that you will buy more games to pay back the money they lose. if you put in a modchip to add functionality that they want to sell you (playing pirated games, out of region dvds/games that have yet to come out where you are) then you are robbing them of money that they want. hence, they will get pissed
Actually, we DO have an alternative to.net and passport..net -- use current technology (apache, perl, java, php) and advancement on said technology. Passport - Use The Liberty Alliance
I read a recent story (in print, try doing a search) that says that google is archiving early usenet post s, some of which it acquired from its acquisition of dejanews, others from miscellaneous sources. This would be a good way to find these classics and other similiar ones and keep these landmarks from being lost to history.
problem- in T2, it was stated the the time machine was destroyed after they sent back arnold to prevent a situation just like this, i.e. sending back more technology and terminators
It was germany and ebay, and the controversy was over Nazi memorabilia. (anything related to Nazis is banned in germany, i.e. skinhead groups, wolfenstein, etc.)
actually, I read in a magazine somewhere that if an area the size of rhode island was covered with solar cells, it would power the united states. and remember: these cells don't all have to be in one place. they can be on the rooftops of buildings...etc
And if you knock out the plug? (I've done this many times with my alarm clock, and it has made me oversleep more than once, not to mention the hassle of resetting the clock constantly.)
two problems with this:
1. A P4 1.4 ghz is slower than a G4, even one running at half the clock speed. A better equivalent would be at least a 1.6 ghz.
2. The Dell lacks the gigabit ethernet of the mac, the OS stability, and the built in iPod compatibility.
I think this is odd. Since X box uses pc hardware, wouldn't that be more likely to have linux ported to it? then again, x-box just came out.
I can't wait to get a beo*slap* i'll shut up now.
At the high school I go to, the school has a few (around 20-30) Dell C500s. (thats the kind with integrated wireless networking.) They also install 802.11b WAPs all around the school. However, as I have been bringing a laptop to school for several years, I can see quite a few problems with this plan:
1. Rough Treatment
Laptops have LCD screens, hard drives, plastic cases, and other delicate items, and kids who are familiar with stuff they can just throw into a backpack (i.e. books) will likely treat these the same way. Since backpacks get throw around, kicked, banged into stuff, etc... these will get probably get broken fast.
2. Dead Zones
My high school campus, except for a few areas, is a cell phone dead zone. I'm not certain whether the contruction/locstion of the buildings will have the same effect on wireless networking, but I doubt it will work to full potential on a school with concrete/brick/steel construction.
3. Interference
My school has over 1,000 kids, and even the elementery schools have over 200 each. If even a quarter of the kids have wireless equipped laptops, you're going to see major interference between the signals. (not to mention the kids as they fight for laptops.)
This got modded down within thirty seconds of posting. So much for my rush to get first post. But anyway, this does raise serious ethical questions if someone is creating human animal hybrids. Also, does this mean that we can breed a "Manimal?"
damn netscape, lost my post when I hit the back button President Bush is a man of outstanding moral standing and would never tolerate anything like that. We should be proud to have him as President, and Ashcroft as Attorney General. They would never do anything remotely questionable.
ROFLMAO
A GeForce3 alone costs $300 Actuallly, a quick glance at pricewatch (http://www.pricewatch.com/1/37/4129-1.htm) shows that you can infact get a geforce3 Ti 500 shipped to your door for $142,much less than the price you stated. In fact, if you were building your own machine, you could probably find a mobo ($42), 700-mhz processor (PIII $84),dvd drive ($30), 64 mb ram (PC133-$12), case ($20) and 10gb hard drive ($52, total $482+labor) for about the price of the x-box, if it wasn't subsidized by Microsoft($525, read in paper nytimes).
Dont forget about Halo, that looks totally amazing on Linux
Considering that Halo is on the X-box, and the x-box is basically a windows PC, complete with crashes, I think its pretty likely that someone will be able to run it under emulation on linux.
You're not paying for the game. You're paying for the operating system, office suite... technically, since most of its public license, you're really paying for the media, hardcopy manuals, and support.
$399 a year is not $39 a month, more like 33.25 a month. At $39 a month, it would be $468 dollars a year. That's a $69 difference, enough to buy you a better brain.
The idea I've always had is that you need several layers of people to do this right. Have generals controlling armies, giving orders to REAL people. Those people control smaller groups, down to either people controlling 4 or five troops, or just a F.P.S. With this layering, you don't need ai. You can tell your underlings to "support me on the left flank," they will (or won't) and the game will be far more dynamic. Control of large amounts of people and units is a bit more manageable (and fun)!
There are a couple problems. First, this requires massive coordination to get one big game together. The number of people who have to be online at once is tough. Then, if you really do a FPS (with tanks and mortars, etc), the graphics will kill you, since you may have 60 people in a skirmish
You realize you almost perfectly described Tribes, don't you?

Oh, great, just what we need at this time of year: your entire home not only being bombarded by the songs of carolers, but also caroling itself.
