i agree with alot from the parent post
I buy a tremendous amount of books
    i agree with that one
but i don't agree with this one
I don't want an electronic reader of any form, and I'm fairly sure that a larger proportion of the populace does their reading against the old-school dead-tree formats than any form of electronic format
Yes, i want an electronic reader. Just because i love books. Like Stephen King and thousands of other bookworms, i read several books paralell. One in bed, one there and there and i ALWAYS carry at least one with me to read on the way from and to work. But what i hate is that there really is no perfect way to keep a book's condition perfect nice. I know that paperbacks can take alot of beating and most of my books look great to a not so critical eye, but i dont like bends in the corners and all. If i can keep the books at home, out of the everyday commuter traffic in train, sub and bus, and have an ebook in a nonbendable case and form, it would be cool.
As much a BIG customer of Amazon as i am, i still am not too convinced with the Kindle. Course it helps that Neil Gaiman wrote favourable about it. Of course i have to wait, whoknowshowlong, anyways till that service gets offered outside the United States, like here in Germany. Whispernet is a nice gimmick. Any book that comes to your mind, anywhere you are WHEN it comes to your mind. Really nice. But what i wish more is that Sony's E-Reader and E-Book shop would come here. It looks better and they currently offer a nice deal.
Really the Sony device convinces me more.
I love books in paper. I own alot of them. But just because of that and because i consume so much in reading, an e-reader would definatly get a chance
I dont say i will ever prefer an e-book and i agree with this
I would say it would be years, if not decades, before we actually see electronic formats really supplant paper.

  5. Re:Makes sense, sort of on DS TV Goes on Sale in Japan · · Score: 0

Makes more than sense, not only in Japan.
My daily commuting in my new job that i have since february IS actually an hour (in a train that goes only once an hour)
I bought a PSP in april for various reasons and while it is, of course, a most enjoyable game platform, i profit most of its use as a MP3 player and Video player.
Converting DVD to PSP-format work like a charm with two programms (not in the package)
and i listen to audiobooks on my way from and to the trainstation and once i sit in the train home, i watch video, if i am not in the mood to read a book (i always have one with me)
The PSP also has a mobile TV thingie in Japan. It works on a special DVB-T variant, that is only in Japan, so importing would be no use. I wait for them to bring a version that is usable in Europe.
Now i read here that the DS enters the same race.
Whoever wins, gets my money, although i hope it will be the PSP thingie, so i dont need another console.....well i need a DS for my favourite Jump'n'Run Castlevania anyways

You do realize that when you then of the Doctor's TARDIS, this is a TARDIS with a broken chameleon curcuit and it is an old model? TARDISes can change their appearance to anything you like, best something that looks unsuspicious in that time and area.
The newest model can even morph into "living" avatars (read: babes) that can be your companion.

The answer is simply, because I 'bought it'

    No, you bought a license

    and its 'mine'.

Again No, you only have a right to license.
You have no ownership over the work of art

I don't need anyone's 'by your leave' if I lend or give my other possessions to my friends, why should a song be any different!?

If I buy a song, it should be unequivocably ok to transfer ownership

No, this is about a license transfer for the right to listen. And license transfer is something else

of it to someone else when I'm done with it, or to lend it to them however I see fit to. Are we agreed?

    Not totally

Disclaimer: I do not agree with RIAA or any other copyright enforcers with what rights they take themselves, but there has to be a protection of the artists' income
