Nothing has quality. Open sourced or Not. This capitalist society is just obsessed with pumping out new versions every week.
IF we all halt all software development TODAY. There is enough software to last till the next millenium. Everybody just rushes new versions out cause they could.
I don't know which is worse, government or business marketing? Did anyone get spam from the government during election time? I got like 10 automated messages a day calling in asking me to vote for Bush. Then 2 seconds later I would get another automated message for Kerry. I swear one administration has hacked into the others.
What IE development?! If the product was actually better designed, it wouldn't need 400 developers world wide to make patches all year round.
Gaming is huge in asian countries, there is no way in hell a sub $100 PC will cut it. Video card alone is 2 to 3x that cost. This might be the only thing to save M$ cause linux gaming still has miles to climb.
Publishers are milking every anime series for $$$. I have tried to watch that series stuff, and the screen writings are looped as hell. Plots take an eternity to develop. Most animes are part drama, part tragedy, part action, part comedy. WTF screenwriters?! Pick one!
Though I still give credit to the two of the shortest and best animes ever "Ninja Scroll" and "Battle Angel". So I can understand why animes are such pirate-worthy material.
4a. DVD Jon comes along again 4b. MSFT has WMV11 4c. DVD Jon comes along again 4d. MSFT can't win, so they hire DVD Jon 4e. DVD Jon eats donut and collect check 5. MSFT profit!
I criticize Apple alot. I talk trash about their OS about lack of games, overpriced, being linux in a fancy case. The list goes on.
But when it comes to iPod, the most I can say is that it's alittle buggy. That's how good a product the iPod really is. It's alittle pricy, but it's like nothing I have EVER owned. It's unique in so many ways, that I almost wished Apple had more competition. They have the monopoly now.
iTunes gave me a chance to sample so many songs outside my usual categories. I have spent more money this past year off iTunes than the past 5 years buying CDs.
I have downloaded so many unmarketed non-MTV songs, it's crazy. Even more amazing, I have not purchased a single full-album off iTunes. 100% of my purchases are single tracks from here and there.
Nintendo was absolutely opposed to online gaming. The only reason why they are shifting gears is because they are under fire from Sony and M$. Aside from the business side of things, Nintendo wanted to cater to very young kids, and they weren't sure kids could handle online gaming.
In short, kids would be swearing, doing immature things like pausing 40 times. Not to mention years ago when gamecube was under construction, they weren't sure if TCP/IP would be too complicated for young audiences. That's how Nintendo was in 1998, 1999.
Either way HL2 is better than Halo 2. Not to flame xbox users, but I still can't figure out the hype behind Halo 2. It was the biggest marketing blitz, and I swear UT2004 is still better. And that was released months ago.
Those are all great points. IMHO the bottleneck in every field is politics. This country has politics at the most absurd degree. Everybody's trying to get better with politics so they can get a raise. I seriously can't think of one industry where getting better with your skills actually turn you into a manager overnight.
Not sure about that. In today's economy I think managers love black-hole employees. That is people who suck up projects continuously. They never finish it, and if it's done... it's done totally half assed. But they keep saying "Yes Mr. Manager give me your projects." Eventually the manager gets promoted since his group now handles 200 agendas instead of 20. That's all management sees.
No way IBM aix has the most superior update function. The industry should take note, period. You download a maintainance level patch. If it starts at 1, guess what... the next patch you download is 1-to-2.
Let's say you are at level 1, and the newest available patch is 100. You download the 1-to-100 maintainance level patch. It is dummy prove, and guarantee to work.
Damn right vmware rulez. If there was any doubt about my activity trashing the system... up goes vmware. I have seen these virtual os take an absolute beating. It's even better when you just delete C-drive for fun to see what happens.
If they really want to beat out nintendo and take an even bigger loss, they should sell PSP under $100. I guarantee they'll have the market pwned overnight.
I have owned a couple AMD K7 classics, all of which fried in the past. I have never had a Pentium chip go down, not P1, P2, P4 ever.
You'd think I buy another Pentium in the future. But nope, I think Intel has seen its hay days. I truely think the 64-bit era will be dominated by AMD.
Only way I'll buy Intel chips again... is if I buy an Intel board. Intel chip + board has been the most ridiculously stable combination I have ever seen.
My PC barely functioned when I had 50 spyware on it at its peak time. I really thought no one could do worse. That was until I went to my cousin's place and found about 1000 adware/spyware. That has to be the world record.
Hey man don't complain. At least AOL is sending you the CDs to your mailbox. Imagine M$ send copies of office and windows to your mailbox except you have to find a license somewhere.
You want to see extreme violence. There are websites all over the Internet of the American prisoner getting his head severed by Iraq terrorists while held down and screaming in tears.
Yeah, let me tell you... those terrorists were influenced by Gran Theft Auto and Mortal Kombat. If they grew up with Tetris, they would have been good people. These rating systems are a joke. Stop blaming video games for the White house's fault.
That's it, I am totally offended. Let's all boycott SCO. I am not buy anymore of their products. Oh Wait...
So they sue Kazaa today. eDonkey, shareaza and something else tomorrow. Do they realize that something new can spawn every freaking day?
I don't know if they are just sueing just to say they "can".

I always wonder how do people find consulting jobs JUST for the weekend. Finding IT consulting job as fulltime position is routine.
How in the world do you go to monsterboard or some other job sites and dig up weekend consulting jobs only?

senator 1: My kid just did a spin kick he learned from Street Fighter.
senator 2: Yeah my kid was doing jump kicks off the couch trying to be Ryu or something.
senator 1: That's nothing my kid was to do lightning kicks.
senator 2: Damn these kids are so violent, let's pass a law.
senator 1: Hey what are you doing for lunch.
senator 2: I am skipping lunch, I am taking my kids to karate class.
3rd party memory card devices and demo CDs are notorious for these kinds of problems. I am amazed they make a fuss about this.
If you have never had a memory card wiped out by some bug in some game EVER, consider yourself extremely lucky.

Good luck trying to control piracy and copyright issues. The industry can barely stop a 1k spyware.
Yes but at that price, you'll still have to wait 20 months longer for every game to come out. And some games probably would never reach Mac land.
I respect the iPod, though it's still buggy. That's a different story altogether.
