YES YES finally an article about this matter. I am telling you the "Boat driving level" made me puke at will. I have played every thing fine in the past from Wolf ET to UT2004 to Call of Duty.... you name it.
And no, I didn't play for 2 hours either. It was just a shocking experience to know I wasn's immune to this kind of stuff?! Sadly in denial, I thought I was just getting old. Apparently not!
All I have to say is... contracting is good as long as you are guaranteed x number of hours. I have never had a fulltime position bring in more $$$ than contracting. EVER!
Like the product or hate it. He has proved to everyone that you can make money without relying on any marketing, product rushing decisions and corporate politics in a capitalist filled-with-bullshit society.
The concept of "LICENSING" was introduced by Gates as a way of making money. Well, "OPEN SOURCE" is the new road map for making money in the new millenium.
All you people must be new to the PC gaming world. Paying $50 with a 50% chance of playing the game on the first day of purchase is a damn good scenario.
Most people have to wait until they sort out patch problems, graphic issues. Quite frankly I have not bought one PC game since 2001, that worked immediately out-of-the-box. I always keep a medium to hi-end system too.
Every review I have seen has claim SLI to be the wave of the future giving you ridiculous speed boost. But don't all video card reviews do that now? Last I checked on some of the older Tom's hardware, anantech reviews, my hardware should be polling in 70 fps for some games. I'd be lucky to hit 35 consistently... that's reality.
All I have to say is my out-of-box experience with HL2 has been smooth overall. After 4 months, my Doom III is still virtually unplayable with a ton of white spots. My ATI Radeon 9800 pro 128MB has been a total disappointment for Doom III after a million different catalyst drivers.
I think the line between software, spyware, adware in general has been blurred too much. M$ Windows is either showing real signs of collapse or just milking people for money to buy more scanner software.
Google and firebox are doing a good job. BUT... there is one sector that M$ will dominate for years and years. That's Games and DirectX.
If I was a M$ exec, I'd toss 10x the budget into Game API development to make sure every game is damn near bug free. Mac & Linux already struggle at this sector. Firefox and Google will probably never touch upon this area either.
Oh not to worry. Once the PSP comes out, the DS waiting line will seem like a warm-up. Every Sony system launch has sent the 1st batch of systems to 3x the price via eBay and other places.
Go to www.gamerankings.com. It's the premiere shortcut to every freaking review site there is.
I used to go straight to gamespot, cause they have a history of being tough. Now, I can legitimately compare all scores at the same time with gamerankings.com. They throw out magazine scores sometimes too, just not the review.
The online portion was a disappointment. While looking better, Counterstrike source multiplayer just doesn't cut it for me. It's not more entertaining than COD, UT2004 or ET online. The only reason why it still has 50,000 users is because classic half life engine flys on any PC today.
Sun will never kill off linux. There are too many linux distros. Christ, they spawn over night any second. Linux is also UNIX-WITH-NO-POLITICS. Ever been to a Sun facility? There are so many employees have you wondering how the hell did they get a job in high tech.
Still Solaris is anything BUT dirt cheap. Sun hardware is expensive, if not a rip off. If you want a pc-equivalent hardware in mhz from Sun, you are paying thru the roof. Some will say it has better bandwidth. Seriously, if I need anything that heavy duty, I'd go IBM in a heartbeat.
Reasons to Boycott EA games

NYT on EA Games
·
· Score: 2, Interesting
1.) When the front cover athlete for EA sports game always end up in career-threatening injuries. It's like god's way of disapproving EA's practice.
2.) The classic Electronic Arts as we know it has been gone for a long long time. EA is just a rich marketing force slaving over all the little companies.
3.) EA has a very microsoft-ish marketing tactics. EA has tried hard many times to lock in sports association licenses so that non-EA sports games can't use authentic players. Luckily they failed.
4.) Competitors have to sell at lower cost to keep up with EA's monopoly. Like ESPN NFL costing 1/2 has much as Madden. EA has already created a deadend market where innovation and good product can't beat them alone.
Sun's biggest flaw is this need to absolutely focus on their own hardware. I can understand in the 90s when PCs were 300mhz, and it sucks compared to a 300mhz Ultra-10. No problem.
But now, things have changed. While they say they embrace the Opteron etc, they still haven't dropped their sparc hardware. They keep saying their hardware has all these bandwidth, but it doesn't justify the cost.
If I had $10000 to spend to run java as fast as possible. You can bet I'll put money in PC hardware just to squeeze that extra Ghz. When I think hi-bandwidth software, they are all on windows or SGI.
I am so worried about the Car Names. I hated the old Gran Turismo when they referred to cars entirely by their japanese marketing names. If the car is available in the U.S, call it by the U.S name!
Speaking of which, does anyone know where I can find a CAR LIST for GT4? Specifically a reliable one?
Oh man I so want to try EverCrack, but I fear that I'd quit my job and never see daylight ever again.
Lot of good games out this season, I bought like 5 new games so far for PC and PS2, and I am already playing 24x7. If I add Everquest to that formula, I would need a time-machine.
I got a cazillion franchises saved for all these ESPN sports games. If I lose even 1 season, I'll go ape shit. But on the other hand, I don't play demo disks ever. 8)
That's the problem in MA too. I don't understand the cost of real estate at all. In my company it's like 50% established married folks with houses + 50% young techies paying overpriced rent.
There is no way in hell that a young techie will stick around for a couple more years. MA averages $600,000 for a medium sized home with a lousy commute to just about anywhere. In 10 years this state is in a lot of trouble, with all the youth being unexperienced college, and the season veterans retiring.
Walmart has the songs for 88 cents. I have bought from iTunes and know that the m4a format is easily convertable to mp3s. Which is the reason why I am still buying at iTunes music store.
Anyone know if Emusic and other places sell formats that are convertable to mp3s, while safely deleting all my credentials? The thought of my personal info being digitally attached to my files just horrifies me.

Are you on crack. It's more like the other way around.
Americans with slower connections have less going on in their life, and can afford the 56k modem wait.

Damn I thought this was just a problem with my slower system. Apparently not.
The game still runs far superior than Doom III, which if I can add.... I am still struggling with these white spots after like 3 months now.
Firefox = Drinking water out of clean glass.
IE = Drinking water out of glass with holes, patched by duct tape. The glass also comes with viruses and it steals your finger prints while you drink.

Now seaworld and all these aquariums will be filled with EA-turtles and M$ Squid. But they'll all be OEMed under Dell animals.

Please, the average credit coming back after the cuts was like $100. Is this worth arguing over?! That's like one electric bill.
Genetic has alot to do with it. Let's see how long it takes before some scientist finds the Big-Ass gene.
