How can you say that how rich someone is has nothing to do with the debate? The whole point of copyright is to protect the right of authors and artists to profit so that arts and academics can develop in the country. Copyright legislation has NO purpose if it doesn't uphold both conditions.
If the media companies are not being hurt and are even thriving when there is rampant sharing, then there is no need for more legislation and enforcement. Benign neglect applies here.
Moreover, giving media companies far reaching powers "enforcement" powers hinders the development of academics and arts because consumers and authors are beholden to company policies. The RIAA should not have the power to decide if people can use mp3 players, or if people can preview music, or if people can share new bands with friends. These are things the consumers and the market should decide.
The new campaign against the "digital lifestyle" is nothing less than anti-competitive.
P.S. Stop with the "right is right" and "wrong is wrong" nonsense. "Right" meaning legal is a bunch of BS when the laws themselves are wrong and pushed by predatory, anticompetitive cartels.
I don't know how you make the leap to "legislating morality," as the city is not advocating any specific moral behavior (hint: cell phone use in theaters has nothing to do with morals). It is simply punishing people for being an extraordinary nuisance to others. This is hardly different from noise ordinances. As a bonus, these rules don't infringe on the right to use a cell phone. It's a good law.
You should play for more than 5 mins. I've been playing for 3 days, and I have gnugo's number. I hope the better go AI's are way more respectable. Otherwise, i think IBM should turn their computers on Go. It might be more worthwhile.
i agree and have delete by bookmark for 2-3 months. Piro seems to have lost focus from what the comic was about at the beginning. It started off as a identifiable tale about a video game and anime nerd getting stranded in Japan, but now it's so gimmicky and over-the-top i find it too ridiculous to read.
Largo was actually a fairly sensible character at the beginning, but now everything he says and does is BS. The piro character is even more of a prude that your typical shy anime prude -- not an insignificant feat. The supporting characters have also fallen into the nonsensical, stupid storylines.
The original post mentions piro's inability to say something briefly -- the same things goes for his strips. Many can be summed up one sentence. Even though manga is word-sparse, it still conveys a lot more plot than the typical MT. I don't think you could construe this as style more than you can as fault.
If one were to pick the handful of best megatokyo strips, they would ostensibly be from the early ones. This is why i used to like MT, but now I don't.
They should not be avoiding gravity! Instead, they should use the sun's gravity to slingshot around it and get to their destination before they even left.
a lot of people sell crappy (bad video quality to get so many eps on a disc, nonsensical subs) bootlegs of anime on ebay, usually from hong kong and all those places.
The custom in anime fandom is to not use pirated stuff if soemthing has been licensed by a US distributor/publisher so as to keep american suppliers healthy.
Everytime you buy from one of these hong kong dealers it makes baby jesus cry.
great, this will enable me to now do many more things i have always wanted to do, but never could before, like not do anything while my computer plays music.
you forget to mention that all engineering students have to take a class to learn how to use the environment. In fact, since no nice launcher or application menus are present form the start, I imagine most who have never used *nix before need some help to even figure out that typing "netscape" will launch the browser for them.
In fact, here is the text: http://courses.ncsu.edu:8020/e115/common/text/.
This includes all the basic info you need to know to use any *nix box at state. Not exactly intuitive to the average joe.
i think this type of sharing should be illegal cause terrorists can use this as a way to communicate without being sufficiently tracable -- only the doer of the "good deed" gets hanged.
In addition to bitching about this on slashdot, everyone should educate their friends about this issue and, most importantly, GET PEOPLE TO VOTE for candidates who will oppose this RIAA and MPAA BS. If need be, even use this as a litmust test for candidates. I think BS copyright legislation has a chance of mattering to me more than most of what politicians bicker about on the hill.
howbout RealLife? You go outside and interact with other people. Great graphics, although it is rather difficult to advance in levels. Oh, and no starting over.
last i checked, the bsd-based OSX has all these *nix fiends peeing in their pants for the right mix of commercial and open source development as well as the *nixities everyone has come to know and love.

Always good to see europe picking up america's slack in defending civil liberties. And that every place in britain is under surveilance.

I'm torn between making a joke about how untechie and backwards print media is or how linux users are fat, cheap, dorky slobs.

this BS is evil like communism and the GPL.
to just download porn from direct connect, where others have already packaged it for your right hand's enjoyment?
mod this post down so that it can pay for the sins of the numerous "perl is slow" posts that are inevitably going to come.
